***OKIES in the BYC III ***

MIL and FIL are in Yukon. I hope the estimate is just that: a guess, and on the high side. Six or seven inches expected here, according to Weather Underground. The goats are all puffed up, ready for freezing temperatures. I warmed my hands before I milked them tonight.

I'll go out in about thirty minutes to make sure all the chickens have settled down inside their coops. With the unseasonably warm weather, many of the roosters have been sleeping on top rather than inside. I'm hoping to get through this winter without seeing any frost bitten combs.

Stay warm : ) Safe journey to all who are traveling

We celebrated Christmas Sunday with our girls and their families...had a wonderful day for the grandchildren to be outside enjoying the farm...little boys got to feed the chickens and "pick" eggs. The big kids got to drive the Ranger and 4wheeler around...had to have an adult with them, but they still had loads of fun.
Today I moved all the birds into the hen house and brooder room but kept the pens separated by setting up temporary pens...it's a little crowded with the additional pen on the floor, but everyone will be out of the freezing winds. Even set up a pen in the barn for the pair of geese.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas surrounded by friends and family and all have a safe journey as they travel.
Sounds like a wonderfull day enjoyed by all.

Sorry your trip got canceled PoCo. I'm sure you will be happier knowing your there to care for the critters in the first snowstorm tho. I haven't kept up,how is the goat milking working out?

Robin you Dave please be careful out taking care of things in the snow. Don't want any broken bones for the new year! Have a Great Christmas!

Been busy cleaning the house all day. Sisterinlaw is bring motherinlaw form Okla for Christmas. Hope they do okay. Not what I would have wanted done concidering the condition of MIL,but that was their decision. Just hopeing for the best, and hopeing they can make it back okay!
Got cornbread made ,two pumpkin pies, and a bunt cake in the oven. WE may not have snow but we will eat like do!lol

Galen, Naomi, and Milagra are going strong. I'm getting about a gallon each day. Galen is the super star: she milks half a gallon on her own.

I experimented with yogurt making, and finally broke down and bought a Yolife machine. It's wonderful. I bought a cheese bag, too, but I haven't spent much time making soft cheese yet. I think I may use it more for Greek yogurt.

Thanks wayne! all of our coops are accesible without getting out in it- so we can enjoy it...:) the guineas have decided the porch is the place to be- they are talking 7 inches on top of ice and sleet in the morning-

sadly i lost my favrolle cockerel- he couldn't beat the cough he got, non of the others have any symptoms, Galahads feet are healing thanks to Les- no cutting, just the iodine/sugar and the penG shots.... he is still wearing ducktape shoes

off to get dinner- stuffing, chicken, and the fixins

Hope everyone is hunkered down. Starting to sleet here. All 4 dogs are snug inside & we actually got all the birds consolidated to the barn area to make sure watering is as easy as possible the next few days.
We did our big dinner today with some local friends so in the AM it is open presents & kids can play in the snow. Taron even found a container of turtle wax to try & wax the sleds. Hope we get a nice snow that the kids can enjoy & then the mess disappears quickly.
Everyone have a great Christmas & enjoy the time warmly inside with your family!
