***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks everybody would really like a trio of chocolates to breed this year of my own if at all possible. And if anybody knows of a sky blue or powder blue rooster that would be way helpful. Have 2 cinnamon hens a buff dundotte hen and a opaline rooster I would trade for other colors. Trying to get my breeding pens set up the way I want don't know many people round here. Thanks everyone!

For the guy wanting black copper Karan's I think a lady out by caney ridge has some. Her name is Donna burns you can get ahold of her on Facebook at Cherokeebirds. Or join the group northwest Arkansas northeast Oklahoma poultry swap.
Ok thanks for the info.

Ronnie she did sell some guinea eggs last season after she finished setting the more common colors. She also traded some eggs. There were some colors, like slate & violet that she worked hard to hatch as many as possible to try & build up our flock. I don't know what her goals will be this season.
MJ-- Alexis isn't officially driving, she still has another yr. for now she drives around the farm & enjoys showing her car off to her friends. For Alexis the most important thing was the color of her car. When we found a good deal on a yellow car she pounced on it.
We spent a few hours without power this AM & somehow even with all the rain we still have snow on the ground in places!
I knew Alex and I are kindred spirits - the color of a car is most important to me too!, My Honda is a red that would be an excellent nail polish color. It is the second one I have had in that color. Plus, it is easy to find in a crowded parking lot.

Hatch should be about the 20th. The breeds are Columbian Wyandotte, Birchen Wyandotte, Black Wyandotte, Blue Wyandotte, as well as Black, Blue and White Cochins. The breeding pens have been very active and we're hoping the fertility is just as high. Large fowl will be eatting me out of house and home very soon.
It is a nice way to start the New Year. ...wouldn't ya'll agree?

Christina, we are having your Smokey Egg Dip tomorrow for the OSU game. Had to make two batches because hubby liked it so well.

Rain total was 6/10ths here. The geese are ready to get out of the barn.

Welcome to all the new folks. Looks like our Okie family is growing.

Staying in tonight. Fire in the fireplace, mashed potatoes and brats with sauerkraut - comfort food.
Tomorrow - fish, turnip greens and black eyed peas - a combination of both of our family's traditions for good luck in the new year. Up North, fish and oysters are the luck foods. My college roommate's Mom always made the best escalloped oysters.

I'm putting on a slow cooker of black-eyed peas and hog jowl. Cornbread tomorrow.
