We've got snow on the ground and ice in the water buckets. The chickens have been out, scratched around in the snow for a bit, and then retired to the warmth of the coop. I've done the same.

Robin - Your boys are hanging out in the big bachelor pad with what was once a lonely Brabanter roo. The five are best buds now, and they stay together when it's their turn to free-range. They don't get to go out today, though, with the snow and ice everywhere. The barred Cochin shot me with killer stink-eye when I didn't let them out after breakfast. I picked him up, carried him as I fed the Barnevelders, and then put him back with his gang. When I set him down, he talked a mile a minute, probably complaining to his friends that the Barnevelders got a bigger scoop of food than they did.

Good to hear they are doing well, was wondering. Have had a rough few days, lost another faverolle, same symptoms, but she kept it well hidden. Then lost my duccle hen this morning, she was one from my first year of chickens- everyone else is doing well. The coop door was frozen shut this morning, had to salt it down before i could get in to feed and water- then the bantams decided to go out on their own- took awhile to round the last 4 in, they were oblivious to the snow and cold. and Ebony and Jet my seramas from june are expecting... candled the eggs, i had given her one from boaz, since she wants to hatch them so bad- she is a tiny micro serama and can only cover 2, so one is boaz's and one is from the bantam pen, hopefully a NN, so she is a happy black tennisball! and Jet stands over her guarding her- too cute!

How's Ari doing?

He's doing fine. I found he likes his undersides schratched.

You might see some pictures of his babies in a couple of months if things work out. He sure is fussy about who his ladies are tho.

Can't wait to see the pics! He definately had his opinions about his favorites here, but that wouldn't stop him from a moment of opportunity w/ one of Oreo's ladies though! lol

Nobody has lavender Ameraucanas or a local source? Taron has set a reminder on her phone to watch the egg auction here on BYC. She really needs those, she is already planning on them having a cage of their own & is certain they will be her favorites.

Hi every one ..Went to the Blanchard sale seen lot's of BYCers lot's said they dont post any more because it is one of the hardest site's to get on ..I no iv had time's i couldnt log in.. An when i did i would go back a few page's an it would shut me off..An Buckguy said that is why he dont post any more he could not get logd back on...

Barnswallow talking about Hatchery book's a new guy an his wife were at the sale looking for bird;s an had a new book with all the pic's of dif breed's they were looking for..They had chick's egg's an Dif breed's of chickens duck's pigeon's. Not to bad for as cold out as it was . They had it warm in side with all the door shut..

Next week is Newcastle sale look's like warmer weather out cant wait //It's so cold out.. O yah Mj seen your DH ther looking over the egg's he said he had to get back home to check on you,,

Ther is a BYCer on hear that has thim east of Tuttle on 7 mile rd cant think of his name right off hand but i will...He has brot thim to the auction but it has ben awile ..

Morning, Chicken Friends

Lots of ice out there this morning. The flock is tolerating the cold weather. Something big flew between the security light and me, casting an ominous shadow. I wasn't fast enough to put my buckets down and aim my flash light to see what it was. Vesta wasn't alarmed, so maybe it was just a confused daytime flyer.

Yes, he gave me the flu and I gave him "Chicken Fever".

I'm feeling a lot better today.
