***OKIES in the BYC III ***

DH and I will be at Newcastle tomorrow night. Hope to see some BYCers there.
It will be interesting to see what is selling and Jack, our neighbor and my Chicken Mentor, is feeling better so he gets to get out and go too.
Ameraucanas have been selling quite high at the auctions recently, pullets $20 to $28 each!

Tuesday, during the snow storm, one of Jack's Hair Sheep ewes went into labor and the 2nd lamb was breach. I was the only one around with small hands so I got to get the baby's back legs out. Poor ewe had been in labor so long she didn't have much energy to push anymore. We got that baby out and the 3rd one too, but it was stillborn. The ewe ended up loosing all 3 lambs for different reasons and is now moping around but is beginning to eat. I hope she is o.k. This is her 3rd lambing and 2nd set of triplets. New Years day 2012 she had twins and I had to help the 1st one that was also breach. I'm not at all squeamish, should have been a Veterinarian not and artist.
Sorry about the young lambs. Glad the ewe is doing better though.

I make custard a lot since I got the chickens, can't get enough of it. Anyway I sweeten the recipe w/ pancake syrup instead of sugar, this past time I got syrup they had a new flavored syrup called iced cinnimon rolls, so I tried it and it is awesome!!!! The flavor is delicate since I don't add alot of syrup to my recipe, but it is great, even better the the buttered pecan flavored syrup.

Quote: You saying they won't give them back to you when you leave???

That just ain't right. It's not like they're illigal or something. That's your personal property.

I understand not allowing them in the courtroom, but can't understand how they can keep them from you when you leave.

Glad to see you back, Donnie! Do you still have your munchkins?

Had a short e-mail from Monty, who is working on POOPS. He's also working on trying to resolve his problems getting into BYC.

hey betsy , i dont personally have them i lost my male to the neighbor dog as with chickens , so the female went back to where i got them and im going to get more when they are available

A question for successful strawberry growers. I am planting this spring (basically now) plants, my question is this summer/fall when they are finished bearing and making runners do I dig up and remove the "mother" plant and leave the runners for next years berries?
