Kass, so sorry to hear about Yeta. Having a special chicken to keep you company in the garden is such a nice experience. Yeta was a special hen that we have all been able to enjoy thru your pictures and stories. Thank you for sharing her and

So I said I would post pics of my 3wk old babies and here they are having fun outside yesterday. No we did not leave them unattended after pics.
This is just a pic of all the babies. 5 are girls and they are sex-links. Hopefully but not likely everyone else will follow suit.
1 of 2 of my lil banty cochins. Yes, these are my fav's so far.
The lil grayish one is Mumble (daughter chose the name). Suppose to be a blue andalusian.

If anyone knows if I have my breeds wrong please feel free to let me know. I'm knew at this.

Kass, Yeta was a great chicken. Sorry to hear about her loss.

Did a quick head count on the chicks...even though chicken math rules say they don't count until they are laying...over 200 chicks now ranging from day old to 7 weeks.
There are some gorgeous babies in the brooder room in the barn and in the brooder in the hot tub room.
So far there are close to 55 Blue Cochin chicks from pen 6, 80 chicks in the Birchen project pen #3, about 30 Columbian Wyandotte from pen 1, and about 40 in the F1 Wyandotte pen #2 and one chick so far from Pen #8 which is CW over white Cochin.
I was able to collect some eggs from the pen 10 where the rooster died and hopefully that pen will have offspring.
Started pen #4 today by putting a Blue Birchen Wyandotte roo over a few F1 Black Birchen hens and a CW hen and a Blue Wyandotte hen.
And still collecting eggs from pen #15 which is Samson over the Blue Cochin girls.
Pens are planned on a toe punch chart and that's why they are not in sequential order.....don't think I'll get to all 15 pens this year. Losing two roosters put a kink in the rotation plan. But so far we have been working on 10 of them.
Moving chicks outside is going to require some doing too. Looks like I'm going to need separate grow out sections with shelters.....
Going to have to start looking over the older chicks to determine which ones go in the keeper pens and which ones get moved to the pet/sale pen and which ones go to freezer camp.
Once the weather breaks that will begin to happen.......Yes, I'm in to chickens in a big way...and enjoying every bit.

Wow your busy nankat! I thought I was busy with my lil 10 babies, lol. Glad to hear that things are coming along. Saw the weather an I am really hoping they are right about next week cus that's when I will start my coop.
Well gona feed the babies a lil treat then off to bed. Good night all and sweet dreams.
