The little serama roo and pullet are getting along famously! You could almost see the look of gratitude on his face, when I put her in there with him...lol.
about how old is she? and is there any way I could trim the blue roo's spur? one is really long, should I trim it, or will it fall off maybe?

I use a Dremel Tool with a cutoff wheel, it`s fast and it cauterizes as it cuts....Fast means little or no stress to the bird. Spurs are trimmed and the bird is back on the ground in a matter of minutes.

I hope that someone already responded, but in case they didnt - you need to pull the broken feather. Make sure the entire quill comes out. I always keep some needle nosed pliers around in case I need to do this for one of my parrots.

Sorry, this was in response to the person a few days back that had a problem with bleeding and it turned out to be a broken feather!

I also went to the Blanchard auction. I got about 20 americana chicks and left early with them. There were sooo many items. I would have liked to stay for the stock tanks and see how the chickens went, but it was already a long day for us and i wanted to get the chicks set up.

We went to the Blanchard auction. We picked up 2 buff orps, cold eggs, and a ready made plastic brooder. The prices were very high $37 for one hen... I left my phone so we couldn't let everyone know what we were wearing so we could see other BYCers. Is this how high prices are during spring time?
The BYCers usually sit at the tables in the back.

Earthquake at 7:57 while I was reading the thread....now have both dogs in the chair with me....

.... Neither one likes thundering noises since the big ones.

Sounds like we should be getting some nicer garden weather in the next several days. I have plants and seed to go in before the next cold spell brings a chance of rain.

I heard that had a couple pairs of Silkies there. anybody know what they went for?

Thanks Mike, it's good to be back. Wish we could have stayed longer, but I am not up to an all night auction yet. Kids were mad we left so early, they always love the auctions.

My plastic mulch is being laid in the garden tomorrow. Then the planting will begin in a few wks. Love spring time!
