***OKIES in the BYC III ***

How can I find Donny? I need to get some frizzles. Cayuseranch suggested him.
I am looking forward to meeting you all at POOPS!

My prayers are with the missing young lady & her family
THANK YOU she was found safe, she took a neighbors bike, rode to a neighboring town, and spent the night in a church. Called her mom from a random home the next morning. I'm sure she's in a boatload of trouble from her mom and dad now, but she is safe!

Thanks!

Amy, I'm going to switch roosters in the Cochin pen and put the Black rooster over the blue and white hens. Will start collecting eggs from that breeding in a week. I do have some juveniles available in Black and in Blue from the original pairing. Only have five chicks from Samson so Ill hold on to them to seek how they grow out. Let me know. I'm going to bring both Cochins and Wyandottes to POOPs. I mentioned POOPS to Carl but send him a PM anyway.

Also has anyone heard from old*cowboy or Al about POOPS?

Did I hear LF Cochins!!!! Blue, black, Splash.

Tired of the cold now. Where is spring? Have to get the bird yard done and covered before Poops but working outside in this mess is miserable. Hope no one blew away last night. We missed the heavy storms up here. Rabbits aren't being good mommies. We started with 11. One rabbit kicked hers out of the nest and they froze so we were down to 7, then the runt died which made 6, the got up yesterday and two more were out of the nest which left 4, and this morning another was out and crushed. It's all rather disheartening I must say. Hoping the new mommies figure it out before the next batch. Sigh.

Stupid groundhog should have said that it was going to be another three months of cold. Where is that Global Warming. Nothing is going to be planted if things keep freezing. I hope that our fruit trees produce this year.

Afternoon, Okies : )

I haven't been on the thread in about a week. School's winding down (which means students are all wound up), and I've managed to catch another cold, flu bug, or virus, so I'm feeling a bit peckish.

I'm looking forward to POOPS. It might just be me without grand kids this time. I've got a broodie sitting on a clutch of eggs right now, so if those little ones hatch before POOPS, I may be bringing them. They will be from the hens who get to free-range the most, so parentage may not be easy to determine.

Storms rocked Haskell last night. A lightning strike took out a house. We were worried that lightning was going to hit our place. We're on a hill, and we've had our electrical poles hit several times. The safety light in the yard was zapped last year, and the plastic housing melted and spewed all over the yard. The remnants looked like a UFO crash site. We've had a lot of tree limbs come down in the high winds. Looks like I'll be doing some cleaning up as soon as I get home tonight. I'm going to stay and grade the last stack of tests before I go home. Have a great evening, everyone : )

We are for sure going to bring our Male Red Bantam Cochin. We were thinking of including the hen with him to keep the pair together. Does anyone think that they might be wanted at POOPS?
They are nine weeks old this week.

Ye.e.e.s.s.s....... I'll bring some to POOPS. I bought eggs at NewCastle that were from Bo's blue pens. Hatched some gorgeous Blue, Black and Splash cockerels. They have been paired with hens hatched from eggs I got from Jim Heinz from Iowa and from Carl's line. The girls are Blue and Splash. The chicks have been Blue, Black and Splash with nice wide heads and great feathering on their feet and tails.
Jim sent me this picture of the sister to my girls. She now belongs to Debs_flock and won Champion Asiatic March 30 at a show in California. He was sure pleased. Here is her photo. ....will have to add it from my computer...having trouble loading from my iPad.
