***OKIES in the BYC III ***

San Antonio zoo has major hills!!! DH was recovering from knee surgery #2 & he was in a motorized scooter we rented. That thing putted along. I never would have made it pushing him in a wheelchair!!!

Got an olive egger sitting on zero eggs! She has been sitting for a wk, guess its time to give her some eggs. My birchen marans hatch this wk, maybe I will share them with her.

Loved the weather today. Sat out & watched DH build another coop. If he finishes it tomorrow I will post a few pics.

I lost two of my hens last week. A few feathers from one and nothing from the other. Have only let them free range supervised since. At noon today a coyote was at the coop. Will he eventually give up or will I have to take other measures? Is it strange that a coyote is out at noon?
Oh yes, he will be back.

Would anyone like to give Little man a "non-eating" home? He is a black breasted red true araucana. He is rumpless and double tufted but his tufts are tiny. He is beautiful and a good representation of his breed. I would keep him except three roos are just to many for us, and Jaxom is starting to get agressive towards him, nothing dangerous yet, but I don't want it to go that far. He has no people agression at all, he is a young roo so even though he is not chicken agressive he is over hormoned like all young roos.
He is beautiful!

I went to the OKC zoo yesterday. First time in years. Some of the new exhibits are world class. Over hearing people identify animals made my day....calling the bobcat a swift fox and guineafowl a quail and then a henny. And of course an okapie is what you get when you put zebras and giraffes together.

People are always thinking my keats are quail.

Coyotes can be seen on our 260 acres at any time of day...but mostly hunting usually in the mornings and early evenings. The rains are making gophers and field mice easy pickings and mom yote is teaching her brood from last year.

Kass, I ordered blueberry plants from Stark Nursery just this evening for the garden and was pleased to see yours are blooming.

Jack wanted me to pass on the info. That he will have Wheaten and Gold Salmon Marans chicks for sale at POOPS.
I saw them yesterday. They are nice, fat and fluffy chicks.
