***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Muesky, I hope you get to a point to build a new home soon, too; just not the way we did! You never realize what you lose in a fire until even months later you are looking for something you know you have (had, it suddenly occurs to you). Although, I must say, there were many blessings that came out of that fire-- I now have all the electrical outlets I ever wanted in a house!

Whiskey Tango, congrats on all your new babies! I lost my good incubator in the fire and am now temporarily back to a Little Giant styro one that, luckily I had loaned to a friend. I get pretty good hatches out of it most of the time, but only about 50% this last time. I'm hoping this next one will be better. Can't wait until a good one is in the budget again.......
same thing goes with being hit by a tornado! We still do not know were some of our stuff is at.

Hi all, want to thank all that put in on the POOPS, sorry we could not make it this time, wanted to report, after having my wife in and out of hospital and Dr the last three weeks they have confirmed her heart is not the problem, it is good, they think it may be a reaction to medications or over medication of BP meds, so still testing but thankful it is not her heart! Thanks for the pics of POOPS, have a blessed day!!! Lynn
That is great news, not missing poops, but your wife's heart being okay.

what dose it mean if an adult chicken has poo stuck to it's feathers under her tail? dose it mean she is sick?

Sometimes it just gets caught in their feathers and it can get really painful if they have too much crap pulling on their feathers. Some hens are more susceptible than others, and some people speculate that those who have messy rears are better layers but I don't know about that. You need to catch her tonight and trim her feathers "back there" with some good heavy duty scissors. Didn't notice one until last week, the goo was about baseball sized and her skin was very red and tender from all the weight pulling on her feathers. Had to hose her down before I could get in with scissors and trim it. :( Don't let it get that bad.

ETA: But I defer to artsyrobin as she has much more experience than I.

one of the best ways to tame her is to give her a bumble bath, flea shampoo, then she will relax for you, blow dry - easy way to find mites, they are hard to see-

on the poufy girl, what does her crop feel like?

been one of those mornings, found out there is now only one dr in muskogee accepting our military medical insurance... geeae i hate these polititions changing everything- dealing with poor cassy, who only relaxes when in the tub with some warm water, fed the kittens, not a good idea to offer raw egg yolk to see if they will eat it, 6 little kittens had baths and blow dry, then one of the parakeets got out - spent some time getting Neon back- sheesh, hope the afternoon is a bit more relaxed
