***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Talking about the tornado victims, is this thread organizing some hatch out for those who lost their chicks, or was a specific breed for someone that i read pages before.

If you, or anyone you know will be near Jay, we can meet. Or better yet, if you, or a friend are going to the Afton swap during the 3 day holiday weekend, I can let you have some eggs, ~no charge~. I'll be there all 3 days, just let me know so I can bring some.

Hi :)

I am new to the site and preparing to have chickens in my back yard :) I already have a coop put together. Could anyone tell me if there is a one-stop kind of place to buy the chickens and other supplies.

I am very excited about the opportunity to read through the posts and gleen lots of valuable information. Thank you for any information you can share :)

from N E Oklahoma. That's a good thing to have your coop ready before getting your birds. Where are you located, and what are you looking for?

Ya its a Sebastopol goose egg. Should I try to get a as much off as I can. You dont use water to clean them correct?

I'm not saying to do this, but I have carefully washed waterfowl eggs if they were to dirty. They don't need to be perfectly clean, but to much gook could clog up the air pores. On a cool egg, I used very warm water so any bacteria would be sucked out, not in. If you do this, DO NOT use any kind of soap. You don't want to remove all the protective coating off the shell, and soap will. Good luck on the hatch.

Kim, glad to hear you are okay in Newcastle.
Jcatblum, wow! Your hubby must have an angel on his shoulder when he is driving. Glad to hear he is okay.
Kass.....cute chicks....unusual colors.
Welcome to the new folks.

Looks like five more days of rain ahead. I will not complain though. Our grass looks better than it has the past three years of drought, the cows and calves are rolling fat! We will be able to cut hay in fields we have not cut for two years. We have more water reserves beginning a summer than ever before.
