***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yes, guineas can become very tame, but it takes a lot of consistent socializing--holding and working with them at least a couple of times each day. Have one friend who had a guinea so tame he could take him anywhere on his shoulder. His wings weren't clipped. By anywhere, I'm including a hotel lobby and a ferry boat ride. This friend had a large flock of free-ranging guineas, but Jessie was his favorite and the only one that tame. Many of the others would fly to his shoulder and nearly all came running/flying whenever he came out.

Welcome to OK jbrosser. You're moving to a nice area. Grandkids and chickens, what more do you need?

New to the group, but feel right at home when reading the discussions. My wife and I will be moving from the Houston area to our 20 acres in Central Oklahoma south of Bristow. This will put us closer to our 10 grandchildren spread out between OKC and Tulsa. Looking forward to building our first coop to house 6 to 8 egg laying chickens. So much great advice at BYC. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions and hope to meet other BYC OKIES.

Welcome!

Well, yesterday's work on cleaning out the old tile grey water line was a bust...a collapse midway means digging a new line today. So Roger is on the tractor, I'm hosing down the trench since the clay ground has become brick hard....can't imaging that it's been two weeks since we got our last rain. BIL is helping too... he has been on the post hole digger opening up the cleanout trench so the connection can be set for the new line. Guess we could have rented a trencher...but you know men and their toys...they thought the tractor could get the job done.
I'm up at the house to let the dogs out for a potty run and to get the long level. Back to it.

Oh how I know. My hubby thinks the tractor can fix anything. Think it is just an excuse for him to play on it all day. He will loose track of time when he is on the tractor. I take him drinks to keep him hydrated. Boys and their toys!
