***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Is anybody else overwhelmed with flies? This is crazy.
It's dreadful. Last summer was drier and they didn't seem so bad. I did get a couple of stink bags from Home Depot that someone suggested. Can't remember the brand, found them by other pest control items. I have two in the coop and one on the back porch. Of course the smell from the bag guarantees that no one sits on the back porch but it does catch them before they get into the house, mostly.
And in other news, I seem to be feeding every native bird within a50 mil radius! And the goofy chickens just let them come in and eat! i have a bird feeder out front but they go around back anyway. *sigh*
I have two free range roosters now. I gave Snowy a grape today and he walked over to Cap'n Jack, dropped it in front of him and began "tid-bitting" Well Jack picked it up and offed it back to Snowy the same way. This went on for a while. The grape was a pulpy mess before they lost interest. I laughed so hard I might have cried down my leg a little.
Hope everyone has a great week. Stay cool and safe.

Oh my goodness yes the flies are INSANE this year!

Quote: we buy 'fly predators' they go after the larvae, they have to be replentished about every month, they help some, then i read planting basil or tansy will deter them, flies don't like their scent, yes on the bags, bottles, i found dragon and her kids put a pretty good dent on them too... and they will clean off the flystrips too

i have done some research on thrush, someone on byc pointed out that vetricin will heal it

shows you i don't click when reading labels- yep it does, so i am on day 2 of spraying his throat- he is eating now and getting food into his crop, it was so blocked before he couldn't get anything down- there is also something called avipow, supposed to add it to their water for 2 weeks to clear up yeast infections, anyone heard of it?
