***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good morning all, I can atest to the fact that Nocityboy make a great Coconut Cream Pie, the one I ate at Poops was delicious!!!! I like fried Okra, onions, squash, green tomatoes and potatoes all fried up with a little salt, pepper, flour and cornmeal!!! My grandma called it garden hash!!! I like them all fried separate too!!! Les there are plans online for building a solor hot water heater from a storm door!!! I plan to build one some day but it is on my list of stuff to do, just not sure how far down the list though!!! You could run tubing in the floor of the chicken house and circulate the hot water threw it!!! And still have hot water to use!!! Also found plans for a methane generator that collects the methane in truck inter-tubes to be used later to cook and heat with, a very simple design and looks very feasible!!! Could probably convert a gas refrigerator over too!!! There are so many ideas out there!!! Hope you all have a blessed day, I am of to work!!! Lynn

Good Morning Okie's, I am way behind on reading & keeping up so I will just start here & read back sometime today.

I am completely enjoying the summer!! Kids are back home & enjoying their summer.

I am working on cleaning out coops, got three done last night & have three more for tonight. Not sure I can finish in one night because I have to stop to take tooo many breaks with the heat.

Hope everyone is doing good. I am also hatching out my last batch till fall. It's too hot to keep hatching.

Les,
if you would be interested I have a solar heater panel here you can look at to model one after or I can point you to the folks that make them. this 4x8 panel will put out an equal amount to a 3 ton heat system. In 25 degree weather the output air is over 130 directly at the panel I use 8 in. duct work to connect to the structures and a solar powered motor so it only operates when the sun is out. Call if you would like to discuss, it is european design and verty efficient.

Me too Sooner! I really need to go back several pages and see what's been going on with everyone and catch up.~

Today I have a doctor's appointment to see what's going on with having swollen lymph nodes the past year on and off.

I went out to the garden this morning and every thing is "ginning" along; squash, tomatoes, green beans and jalapenos. I can hardly wait to start having fresh veggies each day!

... Ack.. I must get back to work...

Came to a realization today while berry picking, the ancient yogi's who developed yoga were not priests as history teaches, just very determined berry pickers.

Its so hot them babies are dying in the shell left and right.... arrrrggg

On a side note I have begun the coop expansion project... some thing I am doing on my own... slow paced time... first thing in the morning and late evening... I had to go through the BYC and steal ideas and do a basic internet search for my pallet expansion... and I hope I can get it just right to be a good growing out pen for the chicks that are to big for the nursery cages and yet to small for the big coop...

Several weeks ago I thought I lost a little Polish/Silkie cross pullet. I found her under a big stand of sunflowers with a nest of eight eggs. She looked so intent I hated to bother her. I had decided that because of the heat and the fact that we are selling out I would pull her off the nest today. Well I started working on taking the built-in pens down today and while I was out in the back of the chicken yard I heard some peeps. I checked and sure enough there were three Brown Leghorn chicks. I think I will give her another day to see what happens.
