Well this is a chatty group when it's too cold to play with chickens

! I'm glad to have found a group of weirdos! I am a 90's kid and they called us "freaks" and we wore it like a badge of honor! Little did I realize at the time that that must just be the way of labeling the most intelligent and the path breakers! I'd rather be weird than a follower and boring!!!!

all of the fluffies accounted for, hot oatmeal for all.... even the guineas survived on the porch- i was most worried about them- need to make some hats for their poor little heads and scarves for their necks

I've only got a few heated water buckets, so the rest needed to be defrosted and refilled. I took about forty photos (digital) and only came up with three good ones. In the olden days I would have burned through a roll of 35mm film and been satisfied with three good prints.

Wow! IT IS SO COLD! I know that is obvious. My little chicken hut that I move around was actually frozen solid to the ground. I am done with this weather!
On another note our sick little hen is passing.

I think it was more than vent gleet. She just refused to eat, and then drink near the end. We are now down to two laying hens and so that means we have to wait 3 months until three of our pullets start to lay. I will try to find one laying hen until then probably. Its very crazy though because one of our 13 week old Lav. Orp. is very small for it's age. We call her "Pigeon". So I am not sure if that will cause her to not lay at the same time the other two pullets start. I will probably just sell or swap one of the larger pullets. So if anyone wants one to buy or to swap for a lav orp pullet, I have her. Such sweet little things! Then we will be down to one pullet and one runt (?) pullet. I'm just not happy at all about our sick hen. She was the top of the pecking order but a sweet girl.
