***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I've only got a few heated water buckets, so the rest needed to be defrosted and refilled. I took about forty photos (digital) and only came up with three good ones. In the olden days I would have burned through a roll of 35mm film and been satisfied with three good prints.

Awesome shots, that is the greatest thing ever about digital take as many as you can, then sift through and find the best, doesn't cost any more to take 100 then 10.

Waaaa!! I hate this cold! One of our copper pipes split open last night, my husband just finished fixing it. Thank goodness he's got a job that enables him to take a day off when something like this happens.
Some of the pens and yards with the cookie tin heaters even had frozen water. It was too cold for them to keep up, I guess. So there I was heating jugs of water and dumping it over fermented grain 2 feed tubs at a time and hiking it out to the birds. It was like hot soup and they loved it. Thank God I had buckets of water already here sitting out. I just didn't have enough to fill all the water pans. I have to go out in several shifts during the day to give them thawed water, I just hate it for them to be out in this cold. Even inside their buildings it`s frigid :-(

My mom joked that our house is like a mini version of the north and south--the living room is like Miami, Florida, but if you go down the hall, you will step into Canada.

We got a kick out of that....describes our house too.....the den is Florida and the bedroom with the incubator seems like Canada....having to check the temps on the incubator...seems okay.
Moved a dozen eggs to the hatcher this morning. Need to candle 18 later this week. Will move 25 to the hatcher on Thursday. Will load the incubator back up Thursday also. The frigid weather is allowing me to catch up with incubating since I'm not currently collecting eggs to incubate until the weather breaks again. All the eggs to set will be under 10 days in the turner..... :D

Chickenfan4life, sorry you are under the weather....I'm hatching Bantam Delaware, LF Columbian Wyandotte, Birchen Wyandotte, and a few Cochin/Wyandotte cross. The cross birds make great layer and broody hens
