***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yes, I have a few of the Cochin/Wyandotte babies that are 2 to 5 days old. If she has been a good mom you can slip them under her in the evening and she should bond with them. They will bond to her warm feathered body and will already know about food and water.

The babies I have given to broody mothers learn quickly to come to the hen's calls.

Great.  Hubby says we can't pick them up until Wednesday.  So you think that would be too late?  I can leave her on the eggs until then.  I know when I gave her the hatcherie chicks, that they were probably 3 days old, if they shipped them out at one day like they say they do.  Hubby thought some were older because I had ordered mixed breeds and they had to wait until they all hatched.  That was just his thought. I'm not sure I agree, but he knows more about chickens than I do.  I have lab work to do in Tulsa tom. and can't cancel because it has to be back before my Dr. appt.  Hubby has something on Tuesday, I forgot what he said.  It might be service work, and if it's something that could be done on Wednesday, maybe he can cancel.  It's so late now that we wouldn't be back for chores.  We don't do business on Sundays. unless our ox is in the mire so to speak.  What colors are they?  I really don't want white, as I free range during the day and just don;t seem to have much luck.  I'm so excited.  I'm going to get some anyway, I was just hoping Buffy could have her babies too.  Also do you raise GoldenLaced Wyandotts and if you do what are your prices on them?

Wednesday is fine. I gave 15 one week old babies to a seriously broody mother and a 1st time broody hen. The two Cochin hens raised all 15 together because they had a big nest box and had already been sharing it.
The chicks appear to be Black, Blue and possibly Splash. I can hold back those that will be light colored. There are at least six that are the darker shades. by Wednesday they will be 5 - 8 days old...should work if she is still sitting on eggs.
I will PM you my phone number and address with a few direction...I'm easy to find....

No I don't have any Gold Laced Wyandotte.

Okay Okie peeps, I participate in a weekly photo challenge and this week the challenge was self portrait I have narrowed it down to 2 choices, but can only pick one to enter. This photo challenge group is just for fun, there is no "winner" or prize or anything like that. Help me decide which to submit. These were both taken today (in the challenge the pics have to be taken the week of the challenge)

I like the first one because of the light and shadows

~~So I was forced to go to Wally world today, our cat is almost out of food and it is the only store in town that sells Iams (his favorite). Anyway today I am sporting a cool set of pig tails, you wouldn't believe the looks I was getting. Now seriously are the "people of Walmart" in any position to sit in fashion judgement on anyone??????

I like the 1st one. It has an air of mystery. The 2nd one is good, but it's hard to tell if your sad or just studious. Mystery is always more exciting to me.

Studious, trying to beat the camera timer!!!!! lol

There were LOTS of throw away shots that I didn't win the race!

Thanks everyone for your help in deciding (between you guys and a couple of family members it was dead even!!!!) lol lol lol I ended up submitting the first one, but it was such a toss up for me, there were things about each pic I really liked, I think what put the first one over the top is that it looked like an old world painting (w/o the paint strokes).

I used ghetto equipment for my low key lighting, but really liked the effect. I think I will try some regular lighting shots and apply the low key post editing software and see how it turns out.

Definitely the first one. Having half your face in shadow is so symbolic of the hidden nature of man (or woman). Not to mention, it gives an amazing line to your neck and shoulder.
