We us/ed to joke that I patrolled the school hallways and hubby kept the city safe. Now we herd cattle instead of students and crooks. I now "mother" chicks instead of being a "Parent in abstentia"

Attractive chickens are as pretty as any picture.

Dusti, if you don't find what you want an Rinda's tin pile, come check out ours. We have some old barn tin stacked by the creek and some less aged stacked in the reserve barn.

In the animal world mating isn't always about procreation, sometimes it is about dominance, that is what is going on there.

There is always going to be a dominant. I don't interfere if they aren't overly mean about it. If they get heavy handed and are terrorizing the others, or hurting any of the others that is when I isolate, if isolating doesn't work my next step is fool proof.

Hey everyone. Where is your favorite place to get your chicks?

I just got mine at Country Hatchery in Wewoka. They guarantee a 90% success rate in sexing, however, I did receive one roo out of 6 chicks and one other did not survive. :0(
