Look up "the seven degrees of kevin bacon." Basically it is a theory that it's a small world. You know someone, who knows someone, who knows the actor kevin bacon. The theory is it is impossible to get more than seven degrees (relationships) away from kevin bacon to anyone in the world. So as a play on the word "degrees" which in the theory is a mathematical term, people joke about the temperature.

Sorry math geek out...

MJ it is good to be able to connect with chicken folks, hated getting so out of touch.

Nana we are all well. Alexis is an expert soaper now, at least for a 15yr old. She is starting to get interested in experimenting with colors.

Coral I am surprised to hear the birds are snuggling in the hay. DH told Taron to put a bunch of hay down for the guineas, but we all now guineas never agree with what we want them to do.
A while back I told Robin I would post pics of the 3 legged pup we ended up keeping, better late than never I guess. DH said we should prob rehome her to a city home, she tries so hard to hang with the big dogs. It is hard on her & sad to see her not able to run to the barn with the others. She doesn't want to be a house dog except to sleep at night.

she is pretty

Armbands are a great idea. We could write our names in big black letters on them.

Christina, that dog is way cool looking, she looks like an Anatolian/Pyrenees mix. I've had upwards of 14 dogs for the past 15 yrs and am almost down to 8 now. The youngest are the 2 Golden brothers, 8 yrs old. (I don't count my 8 mo old Chihuahua). I'm so dang ready to have only the little Chihuahua and NO other dogs.

It's incredibly hard to lose special ones. There's a couple now that I lost over a year ago that I still think of when I feed those yards of birds. It makes me feel better to say a little hello to them under my breath when I go into those yards. I hope all our lost chickens live together somewhere and know how special they were.
Yea, our names and Byc Okies

dose my dog look like a Anatolian/Pyrenees mix?

im really sure she is part GP but i don't know what the other part is.

Posted in the guinea fowl forum, no one else is loosing birds. I am wondering if it is because my birds are getting iced. We have only lost birds when a winter storm rolls in. The other times it was 2 or 3 birds in Nov & Dec. Think one time it was 5 birds in Jan then this time 10. The have are being found inside their coop, it is pretty draft free. We always winter proof it. Taron bagged up the birds we lost yesterday. I havent called about getting them tested, I REALLY feel they are healthy. It is crazy to find multiples dead with no signs of illness, so the cold wet weather is the only new factor.

Our 3legged dog is a Pyrenees / Anatolian mix. Mom came to live with us & was in heat within 2 days. Barn swallows old dog is the daddy. She has a crazy mean bark, but can't chase the coyotes or hogs like our others. She always gets left behind.

Since I am just catching up this morning, someone may have already answered this but, years ago there was a 'game' that came out called six degrees of Kevin Bacon. The thing was that everybody knew someone who knew someone who knew (or, I think was associated - like in the same movie or worked at the same company, etc) - within 6 people. No idea why Kevin Bacon was picked - but being the hottie that he is, there could be worse folks to be within six degrees of....

LOVE the mad chicken! That was exactly what I needed this morning after looking at my front porch.

If you had given me the rest of my life I would have never come up w/ that! lol lol lol

I found this on the internet, so it must be true:

Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon

  • Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon is a parlor game based on the "six degrees of separation" concept, which posits that any two people on Earth are six or fewer acquaintance links apart. That idea eventually morphed into this parlor game, wherein movie buffs challenge each other to find the shortest path between an arbitrary actor and venerated Hollywood character actor Kevin Bacon. It rests on the assumption that any individual involved in the Hollywood, California, film industry can be linked through his or her film roles to Kevin Bacon within six steps. The game requires a group of players to try to connect any such individual to Kevin Bacon as quickly as possible and in as few links as possible. It can also be described as a trivia game based on the concept of the small world phenomenon. In 2007, Bacon started a charitable organization named SixDegrees.org.
