***OKIES in the BYC III ***

It is COLD this morning! The water tubs were all frozen.
I have 9 eggs to take to a broody hen so she can hatch them instead of putting them in lockdown. She is in the barn in a wall cage so they will be toasty.
I moved the hen with 7 chicks down to a floor pen and momma was immediately teaching the chicks how to dust bathe...all 7 chicks did their little dust shuffle...so cute. They are now a week old.

Miohippus...the Craigslist ads I mentioned are from the OKC area in farm and ranch...Cochin pairs and Australorp layers.

Hotcurltr what did the doctor say about your leg? Hope you get some relief soon.

Kysmette, I'm still collecting some other colors on the iris for you. Should mail that package this week.

Kassaundra...sure hope you get a good hatch on your eggs and you get some great babies to re-build your flock. Are you trying to time it for the Easter hatch-along?

No, I had set my mind to set the eggs before I read that so I think I'll be early, my hatch day will be March 15th



Last year I almost had to force my FIL to take the NN hens, but he really wanted 5 hens and the only 5 young ones I had 3 were NN, so he took them reluctantly. Well now I am going to have a real job keeping his "grimey little hands" off my NN chicks!!!!! lol lol lol

Update:

I got lucky and the babies arrived today, thank goodness.

I had one DOA (golden buff production hen) and another little golden buff pullet was touch and go when I was transferring them. It was listless and didn't try to drink for a while. I finally got it to take some water and it perked up and is eating, cheeping, and pooing with the rest. So far the remaining 15 seem to be doing fine. It may be just me but they seem quite a bit smaller than the ones I've received before.

I thought it was a barring thing, the white dot on the head is a barred boy, I believe.

there are some bared cochins MM has some i wants some sometime. https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/bantam_barred_cochin.html but i don't know if meyers has them.
