***OKIES in the BYC III ***

And, finally, Bumpers. Because everybody should love my Bumpie as much as I do!

Bahahaha!!! Priceless! And I DO love her, she's adorable lol

Oh, and want to give you guys a heads up, because I'm a mite peeved. I bought a bunch of "Ameraucana" chicks from the Coweta auction for a friend and every single one turned out to be boys. Now, while there's a sweet and kind part of me that wants to believe that was just bad luck, there's another part of me that thinks it's more likely that they got ventsexed before the auction.

I could tell 90% of the time at hatch what sex my Ameraucana were. If you have enough to compare and know what to look for it's relatively easy. Most have that 3rd row of peas on their combs even at hatch. You have to look close but it's there. Almost every Ameraucana I've gotten at an auction has been male so I know others can tell, too.
Not that it matters-but yours is an Easter Egger. Most auctions label Easter Eggers as Ameraucana, technically that's not accurate. True Ameraucana are specific colors, have gray legs (always), breed true & always lay blue eggs. I adore Easter Eggers with their different colors though, too.
(Probably more info that you wanted lol)
OK more pics of the serama kids

So glad they're home and settled! Your pictures turn out way better than mine, I believe I need a new digital camera...it's been 6 yrs since I got mine :-D
I'm amazed at how beautiful the little Joe Clone is. What a wonderful picture of him here. He's a talker, isn't her?? lol I hope Ebony puts him in his place and I hope you and her both love him. If EVER he needs a home...? Me 1st!

Oh man I have just had a cruddy cruddy week with work stuff and now it is seeping into my farm life lol.
So my not so good hatch...I had 4 eggs that were set one day later than the main hatch. 2 of those have pipped. So I guess that is good news? We will see how it develops. I saw your note Carl, I will take a look in the eggs tomorrow if nothing develops. Just in case I had a drop in temp I didn't notice. I am using Grace's forced air sportsman and I can't hear chirping thru it and I hatch in cartons so they don't really have movement.

But the really sad news is that I lost my handsome splash roo that I bought from Nankat at last years poops! So sad...He was such a looker and was just getting to breeding age so I can't even create any kids from him. I will throw a few of the eggs in the bator in hopes that they were fertile but I never saw him do the deed. I have another blue cochin roo but the splash roo was better looking.

Post some pictures. I may be interested in one of the little tykes... you could bring him with you in a couple of weeks.
I have 4 of those that @Kyzmette is talking about. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow.
They are so pretty! but i can't have any roos but sfh so they've got to go!

Can you get them to Kyzmette before March 16th? I can give you hatching eggs (standard Cornish or Wheaten Maran) in exchange. My Marans aren't all together yet, so it may be after the 16th. The Cornish are laying well.

Most what have what third row of peas on their combs? Do you have some pictures? Can you make a drawing?

Ksane I will have to start looking at my blue and black ameraucana more closely. I've never been able to sex them reliably until 8-10 weeks. I've got about a dozen in this next hatch I think.

@Ksane the quotes around "Ameraucana" are because if I hear "Ameraucana" from anybody but a show breeder, I automatically assume "Easter Egger, possibly removed from Ameraucana parents so far it might resemble a pigeon".
