***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yes! I sexed my Araucana the same way. I'd be willing to bet a bag of chicken feed the one in this picture is a boy :)
in my Ara hatch I had *5 boys and 2 girls. Gave 4 boys away and then lost my 1 and had to beg a (gorgeous) BBR boy off of @Kassaundra
Do you breed them??
As much as I would like to breed them, this is the first time I have had the right combination at the time: have a roo - my 2 pullets will fall over dead for no reason, replace the pullets and the hawks gets my roo. I bought 2doz eggs from a breeder last month and thanks to the 8 days they spent in USPS custody only 2 hatched today (day 21).

Quote: I have 2 Wheaten (wild type) girls and a Silver Duckwing (they may call it just 'Silver") in with a BBR boy. They're laying now, I could save you some eggs, no charge. Here's my 3 rumpless girls when they were about 4 months old, 2 are tufted.

These 2 are not in with the male yet (but will be after May). Both tailed, one is double tufted.

For the life of me I can't find the pictures of my male! He's beautiful and sweet! Kass, do you have his picture handy? I'm on the spare computer and I guess I don't have it uploaded to the cloud, I can't even find them in my BYC pictures.

Found them! Here's my rooster and a picture last fall of him and the hens. I got him from @Kassaundra and am very happy with him.

So I am new to the whole backyard chickens scene. I currently have 3 pulleys in a brooder in my kitchen haha. Is there any way to tell what breed they are by their chick colorings? Oh yeah I am in the Enid area

Where did you get your chicks? What did they say the breed was? Do you have pictures?

Thank you thank you

I got them from Atwoods and they didnt have the specific breeds listed, I just picked based on the colorings my 2 year old liked.

Kass, thank you, thank you for the pictures of him! Yours are so much better than mine.
I have to wait til after May to hatch (and it's so hard!) because we have to be gone for 5 days and I don't want to worry about babies. We've literally never been gone overnight in the 20 yrs we've lived here because of the animals. It'll be tough on me. My daughter is next door though, otherwise I just wouldn't be able to force myself to go.
Anyway- I'll be hatching Araucana babies after May!

Chickncop, what did they say they were? Where did they come from? Lots of chicks look the same as babies. If no one told you what they could be, my guess would be Black Australorp, Buff orpington and Easter Egger. But that's just the 3 most common breeds that look like that as chicks.
