***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I finally have a kid on the ground

we bred them kind of late this year and it has been agonizing waiting for them, lol.

Newcastle auction tonight and..... SILKIES!!!!!

They have a trio of lavenders, a pair of blacks, and a pair of partridges. There is also, from the same person, a really nice white roo, a paint roo, and a buff and partridge roo. All look pretty good to me.

Also a few turkey pairs - the light red type, some barred rocks, smaller banties. One guinea. Two dozen rocky mountain buff eggs. Some turkey eggs bourbon and maybe something else, don't remember. Some guinea eggs. Oh, and a whole slew of Braggs buffs...I know they are special, but it has been so long since we really looked into the buff chickens that I don't remember the specific. I thought that one was coughing - kept hearing the noise but the LOOKED great. Come to figure out that it was the male turkey doing what he does to sound enticing to his hen! NO COUGHING!

Also, some silver laced wyandottes, buff orpingtons, smallish easter egger type hens...

One brooder and a bunch of candlers.

This was all at 1pm, so you know there will be tons more stuff.

I know a bunch of you will be going to Coweta - enjoy! Will miss you here.

Oh, @mjgigax - our turkens are beginning to lay again. I think I will set the eggs on Monday just to see what is what. I am thinking if you come to next months auction, I will have a dozen of their eggs or so for you. The bird that is laying now is a dark frizzle. If she continues saying, I am thinking the sire may be the sshowgirl.... although I have yet to see him breed them. So, they may all be infertile. But that is the second step - the first step is to be laying.

This is why I wont go and eat my toast or bagels on the back porch in the morning anymore.

That is my daughter but this morning I was eating my toast (third time this has happened) and I went to push her down. She jumped on my arm like it was a perch and started to eat my toast that was in my fingers (my coffee cup was in my other hand). I need to teach my chickens manners. Ha! It doesn't show but my entire flock was around her. We found out that our LF cochin jumps like a bowling ball with legs.

SO much to catch up on! Hope everyone is doing well! Not much going on here. Bantam cochin, Kate, went broody (her first time). Her beau, Leopold, decided to try to cover my young marans pullets. They wanted NOTHING to do with him. Scared of him actually. He covered them once but then instantly he became their friend and they now follow him around.

I think it's because he talks sweetly to them and gives them treats. Got my first egg from one of our lav orp girls a day ago.

Other than that nothing new in the chicken world. I tried to keep up with all the posts but it has been so long since I was able to come say "hi" that they piled up. Hubby had surgery on his broken ankle/foot/leg and is doing really good. He is trying to help around the yard when I'm out trying to clean it. Infact... I posted this on FB but thought I would post on here....

Here is the dorking I thought we were going to sell. I wont get into the details of the drama but I won the argument.

So here Mary Ann is helping me out with my cleaning up the yard. Our hens are SO nosey!!! I really need another really soft hearted LF Cochin for my Bock Bock (big blue cochin). She just seems so lonely sometimes and I think she needs someone more like her. Especially at bed time. She goes and cuddles with the bantam cochins at night in the bantam hut instead of going to the big girl coop. Bless her heart.
The dorking is beautiful! I can see why so many of us are jonesing for them. VERY glad to hear hubby is doing well!

Had to come home early to prep for a party and easter egg hunt, but Coweta auction looked like it was shaping up to be awesome today. Not much junk, not a lot of people, and way less birds than last time. That sounds bad- but there were still a ton of birds just not so many there was no place to sit like last time! Must not have learned my lesson left hubby there alone... @Poco Pollo @Ksane MJ and everybody else you'd better outbid him or hold his hand down!

Brought home the Spitz quad from Ksane, they are LOVELY birds! Getting them settled into their new quarters now!

@Ksane moved the eggs from you into lockdown today - one day late...and I already had a small pip ((doh!)). Green egg that was the first to go into the very humid hatcher. My incubator is dry, so this can only be a change for the better...and I have had (once in a while) babies hatch early in the incubator. So the dry does not HAVE to mean a problem. Fingers crossed for us! Only two of the Malay eggs made it to lockdown, so we will see how they do.

Kim, those are the 3/4 Ameraucana and 1/4 Cochin mixes. They hatched 2 days early for me when I hatched them, huge healthy chicks. But I think you need to get the humidity jacked up cuz they'll shrink wrap otherwise. Now is when they need the humidity. I hope you get a good hatch! I can't wait to find out who hatches!
Rinda, it was great meeting you and I know the Spitz will have a great home. We were going to go to the Newcastle auction but Dusti is a little bit late getting here to Coweta with the Dark Brahma chicks so I take that as a sign I'm better off not going to Newcastle. Too scared of diseases anyway.
I picked up the Faverolles chick Coral caponized for me, he doubled in size :) Thank you, Coral!
Uumm....Dusti? This Fav boy is a BLUE Salmon, do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Blue Salmon Fav boy?! I love him very very much! So glad he's caponized and safe and sound.

No I didnt. Put his nuggets back in and give him back please. lol

:lau
We're on our way back now. After the Brahma boys ate all the Fav's food they all fell into a pile asleep lol
David, it was nice to see you there also! I'm going to put 2 Serama boys cages next to each other and see if I can maybe get them to be buddies also. It's worth a shot.

Hi, guys. :3 Heh, haven't been on here in a while. It was a long day--longer than average. First I went down to the Fido Fun Run event in Owasso, and helped out, there, and I had to be up at 6am so I could get there by 7:30. And then, right from there, I went to volunteer with the group, till 4:30. Whew. I am worn to a pulp.
