The dorking is beautiful! I can see why so many of us are jonesing for them. VERY glad to hear hubby is doing well!
This is why I wont go and eat my toast or bagels on the back porch in the morning anymore.That is my daughter but this morning I was eating my toast (third time this has happened) and I went to push her down. She jumped on my arm like it was a perch and started to eat my toast that was in my fingers (my coffee cup was in my other hand). I need to teach my chickens manners. Ha! It doesn't show but my entire flock was around her. We found out that our LF cochin jumps like a bowling ball with legs.![]()

SO much to catch up on! Hope everyone is doing well! Not much going on here. Bantam cochin, Kate, went broody (her first time). Her beau, Leopold, decided to try to cover my young marans pullets. They wanted NOTHING to do with him. Scared of him actually. He covered them once but then instantly he became their friend and they now follow him around.I think it's because he talks sweetly to them and gives them treats. Got my first egg from one of our lav orp girls a day ago.
Other than that nothing new in the chicken world. I tried to keep up with all the posts but it has been so long since I was able to come say "hi" that they piled up. Hubby had surgery on his broken ankle/foot/leg and is doing really good. He is trying to help around the yard when I'm out trying to clean it. Infact... I posted this on FB but thought I would post on here....![]()
Here is the dorking I thought we were going to sell. I wont get into the details of the drama but I won the argument.So here Mary Ann is helping me out with my cleaning up the yard. Our hens are SO nosey!!! I really need another really soft hearted LF Cochin for my Bock Bock (big blue cochin). She just seems so lonely sometimes and I think she needs someone more like her. Especially at bed time. She goes and cuddles with the bantam cochins at night in the bantam hut instead of going to the big girl coop. Bless her heart.![]()
@Ksane
moved the eggs from you into lockdown today - one day late...and I already had a small pip ((doh!)). Green egg that was the first to go into the very humid hatcher. My incubator is dry, so this can only be a change for the better...and I have had (once in a while) babies hatch early in the incubator. So the dry does not HAVE to mean a problem. Fingers crossed for us! Only two of the Malay eggs made it to lockdown, so we will see how they do.
No I didnt. Put his nuggets back in and give him back please. lol
