***OKIES in the BYC III ***

This crazy weather took its first victim. One of my pedigreed show stock minilops was found dead in her cage. She had full feed and water so it must have been lastnight when the bottom dropped out of the clods a d we got a turd floater. The does backlegs were it funny angles to her body so I am assuming the loud rain on the metal barn roof scared her and she broke her back.

That's crazy! Sorry!

My daughter calls me a hoarder, so I'm going to prove her wrong and put this out there.

I have a ton of nice fabric remnants, because I used to participate in the SCA and sew my own medieval gowns. I also have some patterns for medieval dresses. Would anybody want me to bring these to POOPS? I know a lot of you sew, and I doubt I'll be using fabric like this any time soon.

Oh, and I have a fair amount of ribbon, too.
Yes, please!

We worked all day on the Bantam Mansion today...just putting the 1/2 x1 inch cage wire over the welded cattle panels. My fingers are so swollen from twisting wire clips with a pair of pliers and using a J clip tool joining section of the cage wire. BIL welded the gate latch on as the last touch today. Yesterday they cut skid poles for the bottom so it can be moved with the 4 wheeler. Tomorrow we use scrapers and wire brushes to remove any loose paint and then will use white tractor enamel on the sheet metal. We cut straight cedar limbs for the roost poles and I worked on a design for the nest box coop that will be attached to the end wall. I can build that in the barn to be attached later.

So hoping we get some of this rain. In Central Ok...sure glad SW Oklahoma got some much needed rain and praying there is more coming. This drought has been rough the past three years.

Very sorry to hear.

We haven't had any rain yet and it's still dry as a bone. This summer could be really, really bad.

Rinda, I thought I already posted this, but I must have dreamed it. I'm so sorry you're having such a heartbreaking time right now, in spite of the weight that has fallen from your shoulders.

No kidding. The SCA? My sister was part of a Barony in San Diego. She used to go to the wars and camp out. She took our oldest daughter to one of the wars, everyone in full costume, with one exception. Our daughter wore combat boots under her long skirt. She wasn't keen on wearing sandals in an area where snakes had been seen. They stayed a whole week. Brings back good memories.

Oh yeah... Bring the fabric. Your fellow hoarders will feel cheated if they don't get to appropriate some of your remnants.

Thanks Kyzmette! Every day gets better! We ran a water line to the chicken yard and <someday> orchard area today. THAT sure makes me happy- no more 5 gallon bucket hauls!

There is a study that states not to candle eggs from day 11-14 due to the embryos aligning during that time alone an acid and candling can cause malposition?
I leave my eggs in the tray and just run the candling light over the tops and pull out the ones that look off. I don't know if candling during that time is problematic or not I haven't tracked my own candling schedule very closely but I would think what I do wouldn't affect the eggs because I'm not lifting, turning, and flipping the eggs. If it is true I would guess though that the effects would be very small because hens turn their eggs constantly with their feet as they are sitting on them, I doubt they stop turning them during days 11-14. Come to think of it EVERYONE turns their eggs during those days. I guess I'm confused on whatever you meant about an acid.
