***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Crowing, mounting, and aggression is testosterone driven. Take the testosterone away and those behaviors go away. Crowing might still happen if done on a roo that has already 'found his voice' but it's not a full blown crow. I have one capon that crows but it's a weak and short crow. My d'uccle roo went from a feisty sound machine to a silent and calm flock member. It took 2 months for his testosterone to leave his body and him to stop crowing completely.

So how would one go about learning how to do this? I'm not sure its something I want to do right now but I would love to learn how.

I have a LF Cochin hen that is broody and sitting on 7 eggs...  She is in a breeding pen with a Rooster and two other hens, they are leaving her alone, however when the chicks hatch do i need to move her and the babies.  Will the other 2 hens and Rooster try to kill them or pick on them.

It should not be a problem. In my breed pen of Cochins...three hens are raising 9 chicks. One hen hatched some of them and I gave her more. The aunties were broody at the same time and decided to give up broody to help. There are three other hens and two roosters in the pen as well. At night they all cuddle on the floor except for one hen who likes to sleep on the roost board. One chick was up there with her last night.

@Poco Pollo teaches a class, she's doing one next month if she still has room in the class. She lives in Haskell.

I don't have a date yet for the June class. It will have to be after POOPS, which is on June 14th.

Rinda and Dusti - The two remaining Saturdays are June 21st and June 28th. Which day works for both of you? We'd be starting at 10:00 a.m. and working until we're through.

Ashtree - There is room, as this will be a small class of two or three students. Send me a PM if you would like information.

Kassaundra - I'd like to offer another big clinic in July. Let me know if you're interested in being an instructor. I haven't posted on the capon thread yet, so think about your schedule and let me know if there is a Saturday in July that would work for you.

A July class may be more doable for me but depends on how long a class takes? Once my youngest is eating solids I will have alot more freedom to go to these things but I'm pretty limited in how far I can travel/be away from home. If I could pump I would but I've never gotten more than 2 drops! But definitely keep me (or the thread) updated on future classes please!

I'm OK with either June date, or if it would be better I could just join up with the big class in July.

Cathie Sue, it actually is called "Sheath" cake. I looked it up on the internet to see if it says why, and it does. It is an old frontier recipe and was originally called "Sheath" cake because the icing covered the cake like a "sheath" covers a knife. It is also called Sheet Cake, so that's OK.
