***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Also, I've had better luck dealing with non-NPIP people. Not sure if that's common or...

It totally depends. Some people are only NPIP because they want to ship eggs and chicks and are in it for $$$- so their chickens aren't necessarily well cared for. NPIP is just a slip of paper. If you want to know if you are getting good birds you want to see the parents if possible. However sometimes people don't want other chicken folks on their property because of risk of diseases so at least some good photos including the conditions the birds are kept in. Anyone can take a chicken out of a wire pen and put it on the grass for a pretty picture.

for sure. This has been mostly my experience. Getting from a hatchery worked well, but other NPIP were very bad stock.

Today's blankets, some happy girls in their future!

Love it! I have an embroidery machine passed to my by my grandmother when she upgraded (she gets a new one every couple of years- expensive hobby!). I want to get it out and make cute stuff just have to find the time! I love to do monogrammed towels for wedding gifts especially.

Thanks, it is expensive. Last year I bought one combo machine and a ten needle embroidery machine. I did the Christmas program shirts for 5 classrooms at my son's school and had both machines humming 16 hours a day.

Do you do special orders? I have some polo shirts I want to have embroidered with our school name and mascot.

Sure, what is the mascot? I may need to buy the stitch file for the logo but if it can be stitched then I can do it. Scratch that, I don't embroider shoes.

Health is number one for me I cull for any s/sx of ill health or failure to thrive. Second most important is that the chickens that live w/ me get to live CHICKEN lives. Space to chase bugs, green grass between their toes, bushes to dust bathe under. Their grains are fermented all year, and sprouted in the winter, all the grass and weeds a chicken can eat, they used to get live bugs, but I had a colony collapse, so now they get comfrey a couple times a week.

Anytime you mix live animals of any kind and making money (business) there is great opportunity for "cutting corners" and the animals can suffer for the sake of the dollar.

Our school mascot is a hornet. Something close to this image will work. We also use the letter H and our mascot name, like the second image.
