There is a creek that runs next to our place & the guy that owns the neighboring 300 acres runs cattle all the time using the creek for their water. The creek is dry & he having to dig a well & have electric put over on his place. Awful how much of an impact this drought is having

While speaking with him he said 2 yrs ago porcupines were everywhere. Cost $500 to get them removed. Who ever removed them must have left some behind!

Walked most of my woods can't find any tore up trees. Might cross the fence & check his place. I only have 1 good size trap, guess I should have bid on that super sized one @ the auction the other night! Oh well goin to bait the trap I do have with salt tonight. Maybe I will get lucky.

I've given all the birds another shower with the hose. I hope that will hold them until tomorrow. I've poured buckets and buckets of water on the trees we planted in the fall. It's hard to tell if any of the water is being absorbed. I cut and placed weed-block fabric for each one, and then topped that with mulch, and then watered one more time.

I finally looked through all the photos I shot this morning during the snake incident. Here's one that shows an expression I hardly recognize.
