Your pics remind me of a okie poster I never see on here anymore, for the life of me can't remember his user name, but he lived out of state and was planning on moving to OK to the Poteau area I believe. He had lots of fancy pigeons and guinea pigs, and an avid gardener.

OklaDoodle! Was that his name?
Mitzi, your first pigeon looks like Liberace, and your second pigeon looks like Elizabeth Taylor.
They do! Especially the Liberace one!

@Ksane No joke! Those are super fancy birds. You'll have tell me about them, I told my dh and he said "I've always wanted pigeons" news to me. And I've noAnd yt met a single animal ever my son hasn't loved but cats and chickens are his favorites! I'm hoping this move means I can finally get a corgi

I'm starting to feel crazy now, listing all the animals on our must have list. I haven't even gotten to Nigerian dwarfs yet

You don't want goats lol They're a pain in the butt to keep in, they can go over, under or teleport through a fence.
Your Pyr will sure come in handy protecting your other animals on an acerage.

Robin, is that the LIttle Joe Serama?

Yes that was it, I kept thinking OkieDokie but knew that was wrong. One of the many people I miss who never post anymore.

My husband was a dairy goat farmer for many years. There's no deterring him! Plus I can't stomach cows milk. But yea, I used to have alpines and 1 was terribly naughty. I spent most of my time trying to find and catch her. It didnt matter how big or secure the fence was. She was a ninja.

some people keep a fainting goat with their other goats because when one tries to go bonkers to get out, the fainting goat...well...faints, and this deters the others from continuing to draw attention to themselves.

Also as preditor draw. If a preditor gets in it will get the fainter not the dairy or meat goat.

Don't forget you also want a donkey to freerange with the chickens as a predator deterrent. And since you'll already have one donkey, you might as well get a couple of mini donkeys as company for the first. (prod, prod, enable, enable) :p

LOL!

I've heard though that part of why donkeys are so good at deterring predators like coyotes is that they are particularly unfond of canine species, so they don't do well with livestock dogs either? Curious to know because once we fix all our fencing I wouldn't mind running a donkey with everyone else to keep the coyotes away. But we have two Australian shepherds that live with the goats so that may not work for us.

I had a friend that just told me the same, yesterday. Said that Donkeys, mules and burros, see all canines, as wolves and/or coyotes, and therefore refuse to learn to be civil, with them.
Last week, apparently one of my nearest neighbors, had a couple of big donkeys get loose, and, of course, they not just wandered into my yard, but had to "do the deed" right in front of my window, about 10 feet out, with my (visiting from California) grandkids watching. Quick lesson in animal husbandry! Not knowing at that time, about their nature towards dogs, and wanting the to go home, I put out my Catahoula, and my Boxer. They gave short chase, until the Jack decided to kick at the Boxer, then both dogs turned and ran for cover of the house, with the donkey's close on their rears. Thank goodness the donkey didn't make contact with my dog. I'd never thought about that, I was simply trying to make them leave.
Anyway, they circled the house, checked out the chickens, guineas and turkey coops, then wandered off into the woods. No clue where they went. But, I believe they figured out their way home. I hear them braying, every evening and morning.
In telling this story to a buddy of mine, he told me about their dislike of dogs/canines, and why. So, that's the first and last time, I set the dogs out, to chase away donkeys.
