I've heard llamas are also good at deterring predators but have not heard how they do with dogs.

@Kassaundra why a sock? We use a bucket, but I dont think it will work well in the winter because its not warm enough, so am looking for other ideas.

Im going to be going towards the Tulsa area from Norman next weekend, anyone need to get anything up there? @Kyzmette still want those elderberry plants? Maybe we can figure out how to get them to you.
Okla-Doodle-doo. If my memory serves me correctly...I sent him a PM and haven't heard back yet.Your pics remind me of a okie poster I never see on here anymore, for the life of me can't remember his user name, but he lived out of state and was planning on moving to OK to the Poteau area I believe. He had lots of fancy pigeons and guinea pigs, and an avid gardener.
We had donkey guards...not very effective...the Jack actually took down a cow by her neck! He would play with the bull...kick and chase at him and the bull would butt him in the rear. And they weren't any trouble for the dogs...tolerated them nicely. So we sold Jack, Jenny, Joey, and Jack Jr.LOL! I've heard though that part of why donkeys are so good at deterring predators like coyotes is that they are particularly unfond of canine species, so they don't do well with livestock dogs either? Curious to know because once we fix all our fencing I wouldn't mind running a donkey with everyone else to keep the coyotes away. But we have two Australian shepherds that live with the goats so that may not work for us.Don't forget you also want a donkey to freerange with the chickens as a predator deterrent. And since you'll already have one donkey, you might as well get a couple of mini donkeys as company for the first. (prod, prod, enable, enable)![]()
from some of what i have read they are more of a look out than a deterrant they let out a yell when they see a prediter and the goats run for safety.I've heard llamas are also good at deterring predators but have not heard how they do with dogs.
Does anyone know if their is an auction Friday in Coweta? Thanks
