So, I finally finished my silo coop's run. It is not predator proof, but the coop itself is.They've got an automatic coop door, so most days, they'll hang out in the run til I get down there. Then, they'll free range for the rest of the day. So far so good.![]()
And, my two little SFHs are doing great. I still have them inside or in my garage most of the time, but they get play time outside. Yes, my son left the loft door open.
Tomorrow morning, I'll spend time renovating the Craig's List coop...til it gets too hot.
Great job, it is an awesome feeling when you finally finish a project.
To me (probably b/c of the metal) it looks like it would be hot inside the silo, is it?

You are not the first to ask that question! We took a gamble in hopes that the heat would rise and go out the top. It has 4 windows, two hatches on top, and the big door. The metal itself gets hot, but it is actually cooler inside than our little (used to be a play house) coop. It's perfect for winter, has to be managed a little more in this heat. (And, we were totally willing to air condition it if needed...joking...kinda.)

I thought your photo was of a Yurt, and I'd assumed you were the occupant. We have a friend in Santa Fe who lives in a Yurt. It's a one-room flat, but it's super cost efficient. Thanks!
I am looking for a laying or close to laying Cochin and a dark brown laying hen. Anyone close to Tulsa have anything like that?
