***OKIES in the BYC III ***

@ashtree Good luck with the move AND hatching!
@lonnyandrinda "The Great Weasel Attack of 2014" put a stop to my naming birds (mostly). Walking in to see such devastation is mind-altering. I hate that anyone has to experience that, let alone someone who puts as much work into your birds as you do. I will say this again...I am tired of learning these lessons!

I can't remember whose idea this was, but I set up a shallow pan of water, stones/bricks and a fan yesterday. They figured it out...

I need to make a few adjustments, but it definitely works. They were taking turns! Hopefully we'll get a little break from the heat. I enjoy my birds but am ready for one or two daily trips to check on them instead of four!

I'm not too worried. We're a family of 7 a few days without 4 of them???? That's a mini vacation  Seriously though I will be cleaning up the house and yard anyway. And we were supposed to be finished last weekend (before lockdown) so I wasn't concerned with unplugging the incubator for a bit. Oh well! It will all work out.

@ksane so far so good with the brahma. She was cruising with a cochin bantam when I got home and then cuddled up to her for bed. They've all been raised together so hopefully she will move on quickly. And I hope the 3 girls are settling in. I'm so glad they're with you. :) and I keep forgetting to ask what are the other ducks names?

You, Arlo and the baby?? That's not a mini-vacation that's a weekend a the spa for you

I knew lil' Pork Chop would fit in :)) Never give up a bird you're undecided on even if you "think" it's for the best. Things have a way of working out if you set your mind to it over a special bird. I had an empty 10x10 kennel that's covered all around the top and has a roof, I put the girls in there for tonight. It made me sad to think of putting them in a strange coop with a bunch of strange birds in the dark. The birds they're going in with are all the same age as them, so that's awesome. They're going to fit in just fine. And they'll get locked up every night-promise. That Cochin girl is the most beautiful color! I don't even know what color to call her :-O And they're way tamer than most of mine, even the Marans. Super tame. Tell Arlo thank you so much for trusting his birds with me, they're just beautiful.

@HeyBigRhondaq great foot bath. I've got plastic kiddie pools for the birds in actual yards. There's got to be something I can use in the pools that'll work.....
And I can imagine the horror you went through because of the mink OMG Before I locked everyone up at night a possum killed 7 in 1 night-that's why I've locked them up since. That was devastating to see my babies spread all over the yard missing their heads :-( I can still see them laying there wearing their pretty aprons so the rooster didn't mess their feathers up :-( Sorry. It's burned in my mind, I'm sure just like what the mink did. I feel your pain.

Yea, let me know if you do find a name for that color. Its pretty incredible.
Edited to add, I think you're some kind of chicken whisperer. The Marans was NEVER tame for me. The Cochins, kinda, I mean they came when called, but the Marans….NEVER! And blue Cochin was born May 8, Marans May 24, and Hawk-like

OK, you two....now we HAVE TO HAVE picture (or five) of this bird, so we can see the color.

Congrats on the pip!

I'll get a picture tomorrow. I've never seen this color on a bird before. And she's an LF Cochin pullet to boot.
