***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Got to shoot my 1st bull snake with the new 20 gauge today. This was actually the smallest snake I killed this yr. I am sure I will shoot a few more before the month is over. I am thankful to found a piece of property with a nice wooded area but I know those darn woods is why I fight snakes & other varmints so much!

When I was watering the fruit trees we planted this year I took a quick count 15 various trees with any leaves left-- some even have bark missing. 2 apple trees with a few leaves & 3 blueberry bushes still have leaves. those stupid grasshoppers are taking over the place.

I take it you're a trad shooter too? I've never put in for the hunt there, but I got property just outside of haywood that I hunt a lot. Good luck at the base...what area did you draw?

I am not all that tradional even though I learned to shoot with a longbow and mostly shoot instinctive. After the longbow, I went to a compound. Now I have a compound and a Mathews recurve.
I don't bow hunt that much anymore and I usually use a compound when i do.
I started back with a recurve when the Depot changed the rules several years ago.
I love going there to hunt even if my chances of killing one is slim. I love seeing all of the deer especially the big ones even though most times I don't get a shot.
SOOO let me pick your brain. We drew into hunt the Boggy Area. THis is the third straight time for that area. The last two, we hunted the very Southwest corner of Boggy. This year we are looking to change. Where do you recommend? I liked the area we hunted but we didn't see as many deer there as we did we did when we were in Hominy Area.
Also it seemed like we were always there too late. We have drawn the last weekend each tine, which we did this time. In the past there were tons of old sign (scrapes and rubs) but not much deer movement.
Also, even though it was early/mid November, it has been hot and dry the last two times as well.
So if you have any secret info send me a PM!

Well, I've never hunted in the depot. So I can't be much help. But, a lot of the guys I compete put in for it every year. The biggest bit of advice I've picked up is to hunt all day, and don't overlook the spots right off the main road.

That's about it! Wish I knew more!

I love the boots on those 2 girls lol
Those boots plus proudly holding up the snake-wouldn't Jeff Foxworthy have a heyday with that one :)
Please don't take offense, I love the picture and the expression on both their faces cracks me up!

It sounds like you're taking wonderful care of your birds. Thank you for sharing the pics of little Prince Wilhelm! It looks like his crest has filled in nicely. The feed mix you have for him must be delicious because it looks like he face-planted right into it!

I even wear boots when I go out in my pjs. We live in a sand box. When you find a place where you think the sand becomes grass it is actually sand burrs! If it were not for the boots we would spend hours picking off those prickly monsters, and they hurt! No offense taken. Us girls all love our boots. The youngest one has at least 6 pr & she would were them into town with every outfit if I let her.
