***OKIES in the BYC III ***

NanaKat,
I have a 2 ft x 8 ft cage with wire bottom and two poop catch trays if you have room for it, you more than welcome to use it as wwe are not using it at the moment and will not likely need it till late fall or early winter. That way all you need to do is carry the trays out and empty them.

That's so nice of you to offer. I used several rabbit cages with pull out trays and 1/2 by 1" wire bottom. I have several big cages that could hold a nest box and still offer lots of room for exercising from when we had rabbits. I have three sitting on a 4 x 8 foot table. The babies and Angel are tucked way and on the roost bars I was able to insert across the end of each cage. They seem pretty relaxed in there.

I just wontd to say i think your bird may need a hair cut....Wen young polish get older the feather's on ther head grow's out around ther eys an they cant see to eat or drink .

Funny you should mention that. When I took PW to his new digs in the hot tub room, I cut the feathers above his eyes around the little Y crown and even a few on the muff feathers under his eyes. He loves being able to see!

Hey Michael!

So far my birds are doing ok. Just gotta be sure no one runs out of water for too long. I don't think it gets as hot here as it does up north. Still triple digits, just not to the extreme y'all get.

Still battling coons, killed several last month. Seemed I couldn't stay ahead of them for a spell!

Jason and I are seriously talking about downsizing... not so much because of the heat as our birds minus a couple have been fairing alright... considering..

Our main reason to down size is so our focus can be to complete the work we need to finish to get our place up to par and not be stressing with to many extra chores.... which includes the animals...

It doesn't take long before a few more animals and a few more birds, turn what was 30 minutes of chores into 2 hours and 30 minutes. I totally understand.

So is this normal

Monty - I apparently went to bed earlier than you did last night

Guy - the egg laid by your NN is the strangest shaped egg I have ever seen. You win.

I am up early to get the feeding and watering done before work. I have been doing it about 10:00 at night, but decided last night that I really needed some sleep instead - so am up and out of here earlier than normal.

Everyone - the business for today is to try and keep your birds as cool as possible and more importantly - stay hydrated and sufficiently cool yourselves.
