***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hmmmm... I went and got myself a dilemma. Anybody else ever feel like the kid in the candystore that's already getting a bellyache?

I know I swore I wasn't going to hatch this year. So now after the Coweta auction the Brinsea is full, and I had to pull out the styrofoam bator for the additional dozen and a half that wouldn't fit in the Brinsea... and I just found out I won an Ebay bid on a dozen White Faced Black Spanish eggs I totally forgot I bid on! In my defense, I was sick and couldn't sleep, and it was after 2am on a work night, but still! I finally made a decision on what my project bird will be, so I'm going to have to make one more purchase, but that's it! I'm going to Chickaholics!

I have hatching shame.
I just looked at the listing/description I have for myself. "A dozen and a half chickens" ... Well, I have no hatching shame - but evidence supports (I am afraid to count at this point) that I have had 'hatching fever'. I believe that this is the primary disease, and hatching shame is a common side effect - but as other have already said - not too long lasting. However not sure there is an actual cure for hatching fever.

Sometimes we don't have to hatch to get chicks

One of our sweet BYC OKIE friends presented me with some week old pheasant babies!
Now that they are settled in a pen with a heat lamp, feed and water, it is time to research Ringneck pheasant and processing and recipes!
These little tykes can already fly up to the roost that is 2 feet off the ground. Their peeping is really unique too.

Hello!
It has been a long time since I've been on the thread. School has been overwhelming but my birds are a good distraction.
Muesky and I went on a "Chickeny Goodness Tour" - Thursday we met in Maud for the auction. Rebecca got 2 nice geese there.
Friday we left Choctaw at about 1:00 for Coweta. That is 2 1/2 hours one way for us. The auction there was big with a lot of nice birds and prices were low. Rebecca got a really nice LF Splash Cochin pullet and I got 2 RIRs for a friend of my husband's and I got a Chocolate Orpington Cockerel, 2 Chocolate hens and a Chocolate pullet and a Dun pullet for a steal.
I got 3 young Orpington pullets at that auction last year on a whim to have in my layer flock. I love fluffy birds and those 3 girls really grew one me - full of friendly personality, beautiful and good layers. These Chocolates are from the same breeder and I couldn't resist - "Chocolate and Chickens" 2 of my weaknesses in one!
Rebecca and I were planning on including Newcastle in the Chickeny Goodness Tour but we left Coweta at 3:30 a.m., (the auction was still going strong!). We got to Choctaw at 6:30 a.m. and Rebecca had another 1/2 hr. to drive. We both were too tired to try to go to Newcastle - guess we missed another long auction.

Mary Jo, Wow! You ladies are dedicated poultry buyers! Sounds like you both made some solid purchases.

Robyn, you got some lovely Seramas from Mitzi, I really like the light colored hen. Is she Dunn or Buff?

I've decided I've hatched all the Cochin I want for now. If someone is interested in purchasing hatching eggs send me a PM for chick and pen photos. I'm getting three eggs a day from my six hens. Getting Black, Blue and Splash chicks.

had a good visit with Mitzi today and gladly took her sweet seramas!
Your camera takes awesome pictures! I'm so thankful they have somewhere to go where someone appreciates them. To all who know me-Channing is still with me, of course :) Ashley, there's someone that wants the 2 Cochins I got from you. Would you rather have them back instead? You have 1st dibs.
