Thanks Wayne. It took 30 minutes longer this evening filling the feeders and water containers. Folding laundry was the toughest task today. Not being able to bring the thumb in contact with a finger makes it hard to pick up anything....had to adapt.

Sure sounds like you are making a speedy recovery!

Whoever said going into the Golden Years would be easy was a fibber! :old
It has been a very challenging transition. Good thing I like walking over, under and around obstacles :lau
My grandmother almost made it to 101 years...I have 38 years to match her record.

Not having an opposable thumb, doesn't that knock one down the "evolutionary" ladder????

Hope the brace helps.

my "evolutionary" ladder is more of a step stool with a broken leg so I don't have far to fall. I was schooled on sonic screwdrivers today by a grandson. I thought it was something Sonic had on the menu.

Nana hope it gets better soon!

I don't know what everyone uses to heat water in for dunking freezer bound birds but I was using aluminum turkey fryer pot really wasn't doing the job and wasn't big enough for turkeys. I was trying to think of a better solution but thinking makes my head hurt

. Then I remembered (didn't involve thinking) that I had put a very heavy stainless steel double deepsink in the metal scrap pile to take to salvage. Each side will hold a good 20-25 gallons. I got it from my late FIL who was a commercial crabber on the coast of NC. I can heat the water with a pair of burners or a blow torch.

I love the sink idea especially if you have many to do. This is what I use but I only do a few or one at a time.

I acquired the pot with the valve in Macedonia while I was in the army. I couldn't bring my redneck self to watch them throw it away. When I help my buddy with his we just make a fire on the ground and set a old steel turkey fryer pot on the fire. We generally do 10 or so then.
Might have to keep my eyes open for an old sink now

Yes, I and several others on here are long time Whovians.

I use my pressure canner on the stove. I only do a few (less then 6 at a time) and kill in the garage, process in the house. I put the canner on the kitchen stove.

We have several 4 gallon stew pots and a big canner pot. We heat water on the stove and carry the pots one at a time to the garage ...can do two birds. Then bring the next pot out for the next two birds.

Hope our Tn weather man doesn't know what he is talking about. He says okla will get up to 7 inches of snow this weekend. wish he would forcast us some. the flowers are starting to sprout here because we have been so warm.
