Some pictures. I thought at first it was just wry tail but inspection shows it’s a full on S curve in her spine.

Have not seen this in my flock, but have heard of it. Definitely wouldn't use her for a breeder. Since it is genetic it is not contagious.
Has she been successful laying an egg? That would be my only concern if her scoliosis affects her pelvis.

She hasn’t laid yet and I’m watching her.
My reading says it can be caused by inbreeding and she is a hatchery chick so who knows. I’d be interested to find out the size of McMurray’s Buttercup flock. If she can pass an egg then she should be fine to live out her days. She’s a timid but friendly little pullet so I’d hate to have to cull her but I won’t let her suffer if it looks like she’ll be egg bound. Time will tell.

Both my Phoenix hens are laying and one of them is my most prolific layers. Granted I only have 4-5 out of 30 laying right now. The only problem is it takes almost a dozen of these to make a decent breakfast. I haven’t tried frying and I don’t want to do the math for recipe conversion.

* most of my chickens are named by breed/leg band. The lighter egg is Phoenix Blue and the darker is Phoenix Red. They’re flightier than the rest so I don’t have any good pictures of them.

Try Dick Horstman of Pennsylvania, he has silver and gold spangled bantam hamburgs. They should be exhibition quality as Dick has been a breeder/exhibitor for many years. He has a website but can't remember the web address right now.
