Yes, we've had a lot of different critters around. The sunflowers we grow are a mix of wild sunflowers like what would be on a roadway. Some of these are already 10 feet tall. Last year we had some we had to tie to a fence to keep them from falling over...had to be cut down with a saw at the end of the season. We enjoyed watching the birds thru the den window way into fall last year. This years crop of seeds may be gone by the end of August at the rate they are feeding.

Does that worm have a horn on him? Think we put one like that in our butterfly garden. My DD would go out & pick it all kinds of herbs & leaves but it would only eat the leaves off my tomotoes!!!! Then he ate a hole threw the net of her butterfly garden! Bad bad worm!

Yes it has a horn at the butt end, he was to long to fit all the way in the frame w/ the macro filter.

Were you able to successfully pupate him? He makes a striking moth.

I remember searching online for a pic of how the catapilier would turn out. It was very pretty. But DD was tired of cleaning up the worms HUGE droppings. Once he ate the hole through the net she said he wasn't normal. No worms caused that much trouble. So she let him go. I learned if you ever see one in your garden destroy it! He would eat leaves from tomatoes all day.

I lost a bird today too. Not from the heat though, well maybe from the heat. The bird climbed up in a tree stump. It was 3 or 4 stumps that grew real tight together. Somehow the bird go in between the stumps & couldn't get out. Free ranging is dangerous even when the predators are all asleep!

Also had someone offer to give DD some rouge chickens. The birds were sleeping on the porch so they didn't want them anymore. There are 7 total, barnyard mix. Guess we will see if I have a hard time teaching them where there new home is. Hopefully the free birds don't teach my birds bad habits.

Hi All..
Still looking for show chicken prospects, preferably in the Perry/Stillwater area. Just need to be competative at our county fair. If it wasn't so stinking hot I'd travel farther, but until this heat lets up a bit I'm going to keep looking close to home. Any leads or suggestions would be appreciated.
I'd also love to hear from others who show chickens. What breeds do you show?

Wayne, you are one handy guy! Love the milk stand!!

babyrnlc Glad she was still floating & calm, mine wasn't & it didn't end well.

Nana I would of believed it without a picture! Please take care out in the heat.

Jarvis sure missing you guys! I plan to come take that tour in the fall when this heat goes away. Hope your sister is still getting better!

Michael, Macy is a girl after my own heart! Glad you guys are still catching them, I won't even go try.

Monty sorry you lost the chicks. I had to move mine also, the one's being raised by the mother seem to be doing fine but the caged ones aren't.
