***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I have had double/triple ducks, turkeys, guineas, and chickens on one nest. Eventually, when the eggs start hatching, one will go off with the ducklings, keets, or chicks and the other will remain with the unhatched eggs in the nest. The turkey hens are the only ones that don't seem to follow the newly hatched poults off the nest once they start hatching.

Now that I have the "genetically engineered" pair of chickens, I should be able to get Macy fixed up with an interesting feather or two. The hen hasn't laid an egg yet, but then most of my hens are not laying right now. Of those that are laying, the eggs are much smaller than when it is cooler.

I have wondered if you could take those feathers & just dye them with the color dye for clothing out of the store....... Maybe I will try that at some point.

Morning all!

Michael that girl sure is a fisherwoman! You need to move over here in the eastern part of the stae where she can have all our lakes and clear creeks to fish in!I bet she would like it.Hunting is pretty good too. yes we are getting showers about every two or three days. Still have to water in between because it drys so fast.I sure wish I could ship some of this damp green out to all you guys.I guess our hot dry time is going to be fall this year.
My feet hurt,We turned our backs for just a minute this morning and MIL made it down the steps and all the down the drive to the street. I had to run after her and didn't have time to grab shoes. Boy that slow walk back up the gravel drive was painful! She can move fast when she wants otherwise its two and three inch steps.Took three of us to get her in the shower last night. She was determined not toand we were determined she had to! I don't know how nursing home workers do it ,but I'm learning!lol.Waiting for her to fall asleep so I can go feed and water the birds.

P&B those two ducks have so many eggs I don't think one good cover them all so I guess I will let them both try and see what happens. Now I just need to get the other hen to find her a new nest!

OKLADO if this weather cuntinuse we may need to come visit ya and bring back a truck load of hay if there is any good hay in TN sorry i have not posted much here been bussy with the nacked chicken thread

they are the texas blue scall and vally quail

Cool Joe ,I hope you hatch a bunch of those,I may need to get a start of them if you have extras.

NaNa so you don't think a cold northern snow front will arrive today!lolTo bad we can't mix them up and have a few cold ones and a few hot ones instead of months of each!

I got out and cut the g. pigs their bushel of grass and then cut a half bushel of chicken sald. They all are enjoying it. And I am soaking wet from sweat. At least the baby chicks are doing well now. Have several little wyandotte bantam chicks, they are starting to feather and its an every day guess as to what color they will be. They sure are cute.

We show OE Bantams. sebrights, and Wyandottes. the bantams are easier to deal with teh big birds take two days to fully dry and fluff back up. the Big cochins about 3 days and can be a real hassle but we have done well with them in the past. Is the county fair the only show you intend to go to or do you have other goals as well?
