Predators are fairly predictable based on the actual animal, You cantalope could have been a few rabbits, they love them or a opossum. They will frequent right after dusk and before dawn. Bobcats almost always right after dawn and about 1 1/2 - hours after. Coons tend for 2-3 hours after dusk. Coyotes, are a fickle animal and if they have pups are unpredictable otherwise similar to deer early morning, early afternoon, and dusk or shortly after.

A bobcat nearly carried off one of my neighbor's puppies the other morning - right out of her front yard! Neighbor heard the yelping and ran out to see what it was, scarred it off and it dropped the puppy. The pup had a couple of puncture wounds but is fine now.

Mille's breed "semi-true". We Mille fans are still working on getting they recognized. The coloring is coming along quite well but type is what we are focusing on now - still not as round and fluffy as the SQ blacks, whites and mottles.

We got a good soaking from last night's storm. Lightning fried our cell phone amplifier, but all the other electronics were unplugged. We live at the top of a hill, so our power pole and security light form the highest point on the property. The shop lights are not working, but resetting the breakers for the barn got our lights back on there. Hope everyone fared well in the storm. The water is a blessing, but now we're going to have to slog through mud for a few days. None of the chickens seem to mind. They're all happily kicking up mud clods looking for bugs.

Storm kicked up good here close to midnight. DH had never been out here before when it stormed, so he was running around double checking all the cages by flashlight. It was nice to know if any of the coops blew over again he would be here to handle it. The storm sounded bad, blew a few pieces of old fence down out front, no other damage. Not sure how much rain we actually had. At 3 I let the dogs out & couldn't find any proof that it actually rained. Wish we did have puddles like poco. There are chances for rain all day, plus tomorrow is only suppose to be 99!!!!! imagine I now think 99 is cool after these past few months.

Got another raccoon last night. Vashi hopes there were only these two, but in view of the fact they got six chickens the second attack, I think there are more.

We also got a good, soaking rain, after having gotten almost half an inch the night before. This comes too late to save several trees and lots of shrubs, but you can bet it'll save the poison ivy and other "thugs" that were beginning to look bad.
