***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well, the "healthy birds" I got 2 days ago already has a casualty. 4 month old birds don't drop dead if something isn't going on. Especially since they are inside my house in quarantine! It was the one I was planning on culling today.

My 16 yo daughter dropped the brand new bottle of LA-200 I had just bought, so that was $20 just thrown away!

I've got to go get more today.

Then, someone let my RIR that snuck into the quarantine room back out with the rest of the flock today!

So, I guess I'll treat my key birds and then the new ones.

This just isn't starting out great today.

Where do I give the injection? Breast or thigh?

Thanks y'all!

Cowboy - You know you've done well when your kids become interdependent rather than dependent. Bittersweet, I know. Blessings to your family.

Robin - I love the EE hug picture. There are so many pictures I wish I'd taken, if only I'd had my camera.

Left Breast, about a short distance from teh breast bone so you don't hit it with teh needle, make sure to get the meds in the muscle.
I will agree with you healthy birds do not die in 24-48 hours without intervention. (I had to qualify that as I sold a healthy rooster last year that was overdosed on horse wormer the day after I sold him.) There must have been some sign, incubation periods often vary from 7-14 days for bacterial and viral infections, it may be a while till you know if you are past the threat.

I hope you all are having a great day!

We have a busy one here.

I went and picked up some astralorp chicks for friends last night, and we are "chick sitting" till this evening.
Dang those little ones are so cute!!! It is so hard to resist getting some of our own!

But we already have 6 juveniles out in the coop, and I need to modify the coop, or build a new one from scratch. I would like to elevate it some, but not sure how to do it!

I'm glad some of you are getting rain! The rain we got here last week has really caused a revival for the grass and some of the trees. It is so pretty and green here.

Have a blessed day all. Hope to catch up tonight. PS... are there any poultry swaps or meet ups in this area of OK soon?
