***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Like those polish Michael! They look like they are marked real good. Do you still have other colors? P&B I was wondering if anyone would catch that?lol They play that dang commercial all the time down here.

I got a new catalog,Its from Sandhill. They have some pretty good prices on some of the birds. Wish I had gotten it earlier in the year. Guess I will save it till spring and hopefully be able to find it!lol

Got out earlier and did a little "plowing " with the shovel. hope to get some radish and turnips planted before the next rain.

Checked my parakeets nestbox and she has about 7-9 eggs and one baby!It is teeny tiny, just hatched today it looks like.

You need to research your cherry trees very closely, you will need a second cherry tree polenate the one you want. Most Cherry trees can not polenate themselves or from teh same variety so you will need to research teh Bing, and determine what the other varieties suggested are for polenators and then make sure the bing the can polenate one of them.

I did not know that about polenation and cherry trees! Growing up we had a big sour cherry tree in the yard. Mom encouraged us to climb aand play in it to keep the birds from eating the cherries. She hung tin foil pie plates in it to scare them off too. That tree must have been a self-polinator because it usually was loaded with fruit and there were no other cherry trees around. Mom made the best latice-top cherry pies, cherry raspberry too.
Michigan is the cherry capitol of the world, by the way. Japan has lots of cherry trees but they don't do much with the fruit, it is the blossoms they prize.

The pen was so refreshing and green inside when the vines were still ale. I'm with Kassaundra - squash bugs are evil!

10 days ago my Cochins were 4 wks and my Silkies were 7 wks and my turkey babies 6 wks & I put them all outside. The weather kept saying it was going to stay under 100 degrees-yea right. Now I don't want to bring them in and get them used to the AC after they're used to the temps outside but I really worry. The 8' x 30' covered run is sectioned off into 3 pens while they're tiny and I've got a big industrial fan at one end and 2 smaller fans in the other 2 sections pulling wind down from the big fan. But it's so so hot out :-( They were all getting so big and needed to get out and run and play. They get fresh cold water 3 times a day and frozen corn & fruit in the afternoon to help cool them off. I didn't know how bad I'd worry about them in the heat. I wish there was a way I could've kept them inside but there's 30 of them and they got so big.

I'm pulling for her, this heat continues to be a killer. As soon as it dropped below 110 the humidity went way up, so now it feels even worse. I bet the kids won't mind sharing their bathroom with a bird for a night.

I hope my birds don't read your post! I thought I had them spoiled!

Wayne - it wasn't until the third time I read your reference to breakfast and the sun - that I got the connection with the Jimmy Dean sausage biscuit commercial

Being robbed so horribly of your "planethood status" guess you know how poor Pluto feels!
