***OKIES in the BYC III ***

The chicks will fill the egg and be sized accordingly. But egg size wont effect the size of the chick as much as the genetics of the chicks parants. The chick will be the size according to what it is out of when grown.

Well you can look at this from a truly reasonable perspective:
You are not aquiring new chickens, since the ones you are purchasing are chicks and chicks don't count.
you will not have bought any new chcikens when they start to lay but you can then add the layers to your chicken count.

you will have a more colorfull egg basket
Now you need at least 2 young EE pullets to apply the same logic to.

i am on board with Guy on this one, however if you only set and hatch the larger eggs over a period of a few generations you can get birds that will lay larger eggs. You see there is a plus side to everything.

If I didn't know better I'd think you were tempting me lol! What color is he? My daughter is here with us and the 3 she's got are only 6 wks old but they're sure not acting like males. I wouldn't mind a male at all but I'm paranoid about bringing in strange adult birds with my Cochin and Silkie babies here. Awful tempting though......let me know what color he is.

He is na buff lace .. i do get polish of an on alot mostly male's so if all your bird's turn out to be hen's ill still have some extra..But u can have this one if u wont him..

Oldcowboy the polish i have are realy tame iv had some that did seem wild but most peep dont cut ther feather's back so they can see wat's coming up on thim.
Jacat i would agree with you on the welsummer's an moran's all so are not as hardy as the other bird's I buy alot of thim an wen i go to the city i discount thim out they cant make to trips in this heat..

I am lookin for someone that is going to Crossroads that could take a couple half grown orientals up there, and bring 1 back. If anyone can help me out let me know...thanks

It is 108 here. Took the birds there frozen 2 litters & pans of fresh cool water. Shame on those who don't give their birds ice! I dont want you bird sitting for me. My birds expect daily cold treats & ice. I feel so guilty if I am away on a hot day. I even plan my schedule around them getting ice mid day.

Dh gets grumpy about the ice sometimes, says they are not pets they are farm animals. I figure if they have names, come when you call them & depend on you to take care of them they are pets.

If you saw the way my birds fight to stand on 2 litters as the bottles roll away you would give yours ice too. It is very enertaining. I have about 20 --2 litters. We take 10 out & put 10 in everyday. Also have smaller juice bottles & such we fill with water. My 20 cu ft freezer is half full of 2 litters for the birds & the other half is birds for dinner. Works out very nice!

Loved the piggie cupcakes, but barn swallow isn't your plate busy enough????
