That would be cool!
Thanks
Jarvis?? Any comment?
They will show in the "Production" class at the fair.. this is where all the heavy egg layer hybrids are show cased. This is also one of the heavy comp. areas for teh county fairs as there are more of those birds than most others.
Amy,
That Black Wyandotte rooster, will show as Bantam Wyandotte, (variety Black) Rose Comb Clean leg. out of the two hens, one has better yellow legs than the other. the yellow legged hen will show same as Bantam Wyandotte (Variety Blue) Rose Comb Clean leg. You should walk away with Best Wyandotte Male, Best Wyandotte Female, best of Variety Black, Best of Variety Blue, Champion Rosecomb Clean Leg Male, Champion Rosecomb Clean leg female, I woul dbe very surprised if you get anything less than that from those two birds. The other one's only fault is smutty leg color.
Thanks Carl, I wrote all that down so I get them entered right. I can't remember ever having to name what class to put the chickens in that we took to county. I wonder if they classify them themselves?
I'm already getting excited. I'm thinking Champ Bantam and Best of Show too, yup.. that's what I'm thinking.
I know our county chicken bar took a direct hit during recent storms and they are going to be housed in a different barn. The barn they will be in isn't as well ventilated as the old barn. Is there any tricks you have to keeping your chickens cool at the shows? If they were cattle we'd put fans on them, but our cattle fans would blow the feathers off those little sweeties. I'm hoping the fair officials have taken steps to insure the animals are kept cool, but just in case I want to be prepared.
