***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Quote:
No problem, it was a great way to meet other BYCers close to home! As well as meet Nocityboy, Okracefan and the others they introduced us to...the invite is always open if you ever want to come see our menagerie, Kwartel loves showing off her birds.

You have found a wonderful group of folks who either live in Oklahoma or wish they lived in Oklahoma.

If you had gone to the Newcastle auction this evening, you might have been able to buy some more grown Pekin ducks. There was a cage of them there, but I wasn't paying attention to what they sold for - I was too busy talking to other BYC folks in the back of the room.

I suspect someone can help you find more of them however when you decide to expand your flock.

Gah! I wish I could have gone. I did not know there were these types of auctions so near to me! My youngest son has fallen in love with the pekin duck eggs. Ate his first for breakfast and thought it was so delicious. He declared it better tasting than the hen eggs. Now, I'm really wishing we had more females. Anyone know where I could possibly get a few quality pekin ducks to add to our little flock? A reputable seller, of course.

BCchick, there is an auction in Blanchard next Saturday the 10th and on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Sale is at the Blanchard FFA building and poultry starts at 5 PM (misc sales begin at 2 PM, goats at 4 PM). Hope to see you there - we are newbees too but found this auction several weeks ago and just had to buy a couple (6) of RIR chicks.

Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful cool down! Unfortunately the temp change was just too much for one of our little RIR chicks and she succumbed this morning to the cold.

On a much lighter note, it looks like the cooler weather and the nesting boxes we got from Michael did the trick, we are getting more eggs from our rescue ladies! All this AND they are pretty!

There is a list at: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=363390&p=1

for all the swap meets and auctions around the state. Hope to meet you at one!

Joe - Very pretty! You're the busiest person I know. I'm really looking forward to the Green Country Swap. I will be bringing some birds for the auction, but I haven't decided which ones. I will send you a PM as soon as I decide.

Ellwood - I hope the visiting goat settles down and quits trying to boss your other animals. Maybe she has a split personality. She was always meek and reserved here. Apologize for me to your piggy. I hope she's not bruised from their first encounter.

Time to go pound some more T-posts to enlarge the goat enclosure. Our does are active and want to run, but in their present enclosure they often bump into each other. Maybe this is on purpose, but I think they will be happier if they can flip and do cartwheels without a collision.

Carla - How big do your wethers get? I don't know much about fainting goats. Do you have any pictures?

BCchick- u just happen to live within 10+ miles from two different fowl auctions. one of the operaters of the Newcastle auction lives in BC he goes by the name Modernman, u may PM him he may have some ducks, u may PM Michaeldaughtery also he usually has some of everything.
