***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well that wind you all had finally made it to Tn.! Blowed my chicken coop upside down! Birds are okay just windblown!lol. Windchills in the teens in the morning. Even had a few sleet pellets. Our local weather person is calling for a much snowyier winter this year! Love the now jut not the ice and bitter temps.
Got a nice Christmas card and letter from our old friend Teach! They are doing good and getting setteled in in Texas. Sounds like they are busy busy with the boys sports and farm shows. Sure miss ole Teaches conversations during the day while he was teaching. He sure is a character! Has anyone gotten any accumulations yet? WE are supposed to have a rainy Christmas but chance of snow the next day.

Kass I sure like those rumpless roos. Very pretty.

Hi Okla-doodle!
Wind blew off part of my visqueen wind block from the West side of my big coop. It also lifted up a 5'x3' piece of corrigated tin and carried it over all the pens and dropped in 25 feet away on the north side of the big pen. So glad it didnt hit any of the pen tops. They are all sun screen!

Tim
We do have Chocolate. Never seen the others & we have been known to drive half a day to find a new color to add to the flock. I personally haven't kept up with what colors developed this fall from the unusual colors we kept this spring. Last count we had about 11 different colors. Taron was just talking today saying they will be laying again soon & she can't wait to start hatching.

We have lost a few birds over the past wk including 1 that brought DD to tears. Considering today was the first time I walked outside to the birds in over 3 wks the birds are doing ok. I only made it to check on the birds up by the house & can say the chores haven't been done as well as I like since my surgery. Still sleeping bunches, but I do get small burst of energy. I will try to get caught up on the thread soon.

We had a friend that was considering getting chickens & had sampled a few farm fresh eggs a while back. They stopped by to visit yesterday & I asked when they wanted to get chickens. They said they liked the eggs, but are going to pass on the chickens since they don't want flies. They have 14 acres but sware that a dwarf bunny has brought lots of flies & chickens would be even worse. I couldn't get them to believe the flies are not bad. Oh well.... I tried!!!!

Will check in again when I get a chance. Have lots of visitors scheduled to stop by the next few days & that seems to take most of my energy.

Good to hear from you Christina, take it slow, a bit at a time-

for you Dr who fans.... why didn't the Apocalypse happen?

and if we don't get a chance- Merry Christmas!

Keep up the recooperating, your body had a major insult and needs time to recover.

Sorry about your chicken losses. As for the friends well there are some egg customers then. lol

Spent some time reading post I have missed. Was awful to hear of an owl attack & Kass can't imagine you given up your pretty roo. Just consider him living art for your yard.
I am sure there are a few other things I wanted to mention, but all other thoughts have left me, I can blame it on the pain meds.

Where in the world is Mitzi???? Did I miss her post?
