***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Oh Cathie-- we keep talking about guinea sorting. I am certain it should be so much more fun this yr! Usually Taron & I do 90% of it but imagine my participation this time will be telling DH what color it is & where to put it. I find my self considering getting rid of my ducks to have another guinea pen. I am sure I don't really mean it. We all love the ducks, they sure are entertaining.
Yesterday DH was chuckling while looking out the back door, I inquired-- assuming it was the goats into something. Nope it was the guineas. Have no idea what they were doing, but they are always good for a laugh.

There is a new auction being held the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm at the Okmulgee County Fairgrounds. Feeders, etc. sell first, then baby chicks. Poultry is sold in the order in which is comes in. Tomorrow night will be the 4th auction. Every auction has had a great turnout of both birds and people. LOTS of breeds. Check-in time for birds starts at 12:00 pm. Cages do not go with the birds unless specified by seller. If anyone needs the phone number of the person who is running the auction, please inbox me.
I would like to check out the Wister auction but it's too far away from me. I'll have to check out Chupps near Inola. And maybe I can get me some Amish goodies while I'm in that area.
There is also the Guy Rose Auction in Perkins every Saturday. I think it starts at 9:30 am with poultry (well, they start with produce if there is some there).
And you can always look in pennysaver for auction listings.. My ex introduced me to estate auctions and goes to the guy rose one almost every Saturday. While I got to pick out the birds, I haven't had the nerve to bid myself yet.

Are your guineas doing the stupid mating stuff. I think it is the nice weather making ours go nuts. I am going to have to break them up in pens sooner than I thought. I really still need to find a few chocolate guineas. But where I would put another color at I'm not sure lol. Our guineas have gotten so spoiled this winter if you go out to the back yard they swarm around you looking for hand outs. They are getting worse than the geese at the park! LOL

I've been feeling bad for the last several days, so I had a little dirt therapy today, relocating some raspberries, then I had some chicken therapy, and what's chicken therapy w/o a camera???? lol lol lol

Little Man w/ his buddy Jaxom

Reba

Jaxom, when he hatched I would never have guessed he would have white on him!

FerraO (sitting one, as in ferrous oxide) and LeppyQ

She doesn't have a name

NeuroticCheeks, she needs antipsych meds for sure. I don't get many pics of her she is so schitzo so this was a rare treat for me.

My guineas are for sure showing their hormonal side, puffing up their wings chasing each other. Plus I have a NN roo that courts my guinea hens, for sure have to rehome him.
I think I have Taron convinced to downsize her laying flock. She is pushing 3 dz eggs a day & she realizes come spring it will be even more eggs. Guess when we have a nice day we will have to sort some birds.

Its always fun to tell people how pretty their birds are ,but that Jaxom is one ugly turken! Lol Sorry Kass ! I know hes your pet but he sure must have been busy when they were passing out pretty pills!lol The little rumpless guy on the other hand is a doll! I really like the looks of him!

quick question. My roosters have stopped crowing since I got rid of the mean one. i have a pen with turkeys next to the chicken yard. The turkeys will get upon teh branch and set and watch teh chickens and be very verbal while up their. could this affect the roosters from crowing?
