***OKIES in the BYC III ***

when? I have 16 in the bator..swapped about twenty five for chicken eggs so far...got 6 in the turner....I have more eggs than incubator room......
well what are you asking on them lol ... cause id like to get some turkeys , you know turkey manure is a natural merick vaccination , sorry for spelling lol , sounds gross but you sprinkle the feces on the chicks feed

Another sleepless night in Meeker...
glad to see so many posting again...
Picked up chicks from Carl...35 new babies in the brooder...doing great.
Switching out Roos in the breeding pens and putting up chain link in the garden..will take a couple of days to stretch 397 feet. Hubby decided it would look nicer if he traded out the panel gates for chain link too.
Need to build an outside coop for the 37 three week old chick for when they go outside in a couple of weeks. They are currently having the run of the brooder room floor and think they are in heaven with all the space and roosts to explore. I found several snoozing in the wall hung nest boxes.
Going to work some in the garden setting out onion plants and potting seeds in jiffy pots Monday.
Going to try to get some sleep now...the winds are picking up outside. I can hear it blowing around the house. Hope the geese are in their coop instead of out on the ground.
Oh! The pair of wild geese are back. Lucy and Goosey circled the barn this evening and landed by their tire feeder until I took them a can of scratch mix. They then settled down for the night near the feeder.

You saying they won't give them back to you when you leave???
hu.gif
That just ain't right. It's not like they're illigal or something. That's your personal property.

I understand not allowing them in the courtroom, but can't understand how they can keep them from you when you leave.
No... They won't give them back. They make you take them out to your car, or they trash them in the trash can.

It is the same as if they confiscated a gun or knife some one was trying to sneak in....

I agree it is not right, seriously it is just a CROCHET HOOK! Their aim with their guns must be horrible if they are so scared of us little ladies taking over the court room with a crochet hook.

Quote: ewwwww....lol.

I will be selling poults for ten dollars each, eggs are five...
If I hatch them I like to keep them for a few days after to make sure they are strong, healthy and have no physical problems before selling, though.

My breeding pens:
Pen #1: Royal Palm tom over 1 Royal Palm hen and 1 Golden Narragansett hen (both are laying)
Pen #2: Blue Slate tom over 1 Blue Slate hen and 1 Royal Palm hen (only the BS hen is laying right now)

Joe - Congratulations on a great turnout at the show. I wanted so much to go, but I had to cancel all my weekend extras to try to get well. I'm still fighting off a cold/flu/virus. I'm anxious to see the pictures of the show.

Catching up on 200 new posts takes a while... lol.

And seeing your pics and hearing you all talk about your breeds is so enabling... but I can only have 6 chickens!!!

Oh well... we will give those six chicks the best home possible.

This weekend was absolutely gorgeous, and we got not outside work done. Friday we had a 4H talent show. Saturday we had company and our girls went to a sleep over, so by Sunday after church we were all exhausted. Today I get to shovel a load of compost for the garden, then go pick up some lumber for our new coop. Then hopefully go buy a brooder and pick up 10 baby chicks, :)

We have spinach and chard and kale seedlings ready to go into the garden. And I need to move them so I can make more room for more seeds. :)

We are also going to do an A Frame style coop/run over one of our garden beds, covering most of it with hoop house plastic, to try to raise a batch of meat chicks. We have 30 eggs in the incubator, and I am hoping they hatch. I love me some fried chicken,

and the store bought chicken is just getting horrid.

What show did you go to?

My daughter wants to do chickens for her 4H project, which means we will need help getting back into showing.

:)
