***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I am sorry do not want to but in your conversation but i was wondering about planting strawberries already I have some but did not know if it was to eaely yet it seems like you do alot of gardening so I was hoping for some advice from someone who knows

I did further inspection of the chick, the mass is solid & hard. Taron said it is like a dried prune. Seriously it is rock solid. I have had birds without the yolk absorbed all the way before, this is nothing like it. Poor chick I will give him until tomorrow.
I would try soaking in warm water first and see if it can be carefully removed or if it is attatched to body organs or something. Maybe even warm epsom salts water. Maybe even cutting the bulk of it off w/ a sharp scissor then soaking. If it is dried egg gunk from an undeveloped second yolk and isn't attatched to body organs it should be able to be removed.

It is always an open conversation you aren't butting in at all. I am not a strawberry expert by any means, but I have planted mine and they got snowed on and are green and happy growing like little weeds. They are usually planted in the fall for a spring harvest (just learned that from a BYC gardener) so can't imagine they couldn't be planted now?????

I am so scared!! I don't want to hurt him but I am sure a soak can't hurt. I can put him back in the hatcher afterwards to dry. Everytime something like this happens Taron quickly recalls this is why she could never be a Vet.

lol...I need some blues to go with my roo.....posting that was a tease, and makes me wish I could have went
o should have been me getting the phone call about it yesterday , because as of right now im having to wait to get my blue delievered this fall lol , i was emailing and calling people yesterday about trying to find out who it was and sending emails lol , but more excited about the whites im getting even tho blue is my fav color

We didn't get a single blue chick in this hatch. DD was bummed. Last wk 1/3 were blue. After all the birds were sleeping we went & sorted guineas. I didn't get a count, we were mainly sorting the solids, pearls & partially pearled. Next time we will work on counting & sexing them. Right now we have them split into 3 pens. We usually hatch for a month letting large flocks run together then if there is a color Taron isn't getting many of she will split them up into even more pens.
