What does BR LF mean? Chester is beautiful! Is he also BR LF? If he breeds to the Lemon hen, what colors would come out - or would the colors 'mutt up'?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions!

Red (the Catahoula/lab chicken loving dog) woke me up at 4:30 this morning by licking my hand....something he never does. He did not want to go outside, but led me to the back bedroom. I had forgotten to move eggs that were supposed to go into lockdown last night into the hatcher. Sure enough, two babies had hatched and two more were zipped out of 25. I quickly moved the eggs to the already warm hatcher and since the first were already dried and fluffy, moved them to the brooder after toe punching. Red waited patiently for me to finish, sniffed the new babies and then went back to his bed until 7am which is his normal waking time.

Good thing hubby had the coffee made, because I couldn't go back to sleep.
GOOD dog! GREAT hubby!

Nana with practice I think Red could be a trained therapy dog, as long as he didn't have to work in storms.
Erin the art looks awesome, not something I could ever do.
Ducks have been hatching all night & the last of the chicks are out. The entire house is full of chirping. Taron has 3 brooders full. I am so thankful for the warmer weather, hopefully we can get the brooders all going in the barn this weekend.
We have been sorting through seeds & working on the garden layout for the yr. This weekend we are planting raddish, turnips, kholorabi along with carrots & a few lettuces. The lettuce are going in gutters, as long as I can get a kid to climb up in the barn rafters & get the recycled gutters down. I hate growing lettuce in the ground since it gets so dirty, hope to combate the dirt by using gutters.

Who has plans to make it to Newcastle Auction? We are bringing a dz or so Silver Appleyard Ducklings, Easter Egger chicks, eggs & maybe cartons.

Hello Everybody,

Hope everyone's week has been productive. We've been busy with our 4wk old babies and we got 1wk old chicks now!
Chickens are very addictive! Here are our new babies:

This one I have no idea what it is. I know it's cochin from the feathered feet. Could it be a golden laced?

This one is supposed to be a Minorca. What do you guys think?

These two are Buff Orpps, we got them at the auction last wkend.

This one is supposed to be a Golden sexlink, Do you guys agree?

I really have no idea what this one is. I took a pic of it's head since it was unusual to e since it has a T on it.

Same chick as up above, just side view and top of it's head. Any ideas as to what it might be?

Anyhow, having lots of fun with my chicks! They are all well behaved so far and they love to be cuddled with.
