Going to be a beautiful day!
21 of 25 chicks hatched. Two dis and two duds. All are cheeping and healthy!
Going to plant potatoes today and clean out some more beds.

First though will be finishing my cup of coffee and reading the last entries here...edited to respond.

Sorry about the calf loss, hope the cow recovers quickly. So far we have 25 on the ground and more to come....no birthing issues yet. There is usually at least one a year.

Great photos Kass! Redbuds and forsythia already!?! mine aren't blooming yet.

Love the Opaline guinea.

Robyn..glad your jury duty is over...means you can get back the the normal routines.

Greetings:

I'm in a quandary. My darling husband seems to be allergic to everything on the farm I love: chickens, goats, hay, grass, trees, and anything that rides on the wind. He sits across the table from me and squeezes his eyes shut, hacks, coughs, sneezes, and clears his throat. This happens only after I sit down across from him. If I don't enter the room after tending my animals, I can watch him through the window and see that he is completely allergy-symptom free.

In order to keep goats and chickens and a happy husband, I need to build the following:

* A goat house and milking barn with washable walls and floors.

* Chicken pens that can be cleaned faster and easier - and a high-school kid can manage if I need to be away for more than two days.

* A plumbed mud room off the milking barn so that I can shower and change into clean clothes before going back to the house.

I'll take some pictures later today of the stock I need to sell or re-home so that I can build the above-mentioned allergy-combatant facilities. If you are in need of any of the following, send me a PM. I'm more interested in re-homing than selling. I've still got these animals because they are among my favorites. Maybe we can do a chicken train if you're not close to Haskell or Muskogee.

- 3 Amazing LaMancha Milk Goats. I'm going to cry for months when these ladies are gone, but I'm going to be able to replace them with babies after my pilgrimage (summer of 2014). I will have the mud room built by the time I return from Spain. This is Galen and Naomi. Milagra is not in the frame. They are still in milk. With spring in the air, they are all acting like they want to be mommas again. Galen milks 1/2 gallon a day. Naomi milks a quart and Milagra milks a quart. If milked morning and night, they give a little more, but my work schedule has been so full that I've only been milking after school.

Roosters: French Black Copper Maran, NN X Buff Catalana, and a few others.
Hens: Just a couple. . . I'm collecting supplies for a pasture coop, so I'm keeping most of my hens. They'll be away from the house, so I can interact with them and not worry too much about carrying allergens back with me.

Joe - I'm sendin you a PM.
Robin - I'm sending you a PM.
Todd - I'm sending you a PM.

Awe, sorry to hear you have to do more rehoming Poco... good luck finding good homes for them. Remember the offer still stands for you to get Cream Legbar stock back from us when you are ready! Both of the boys I bought from you turned out to be OUTSTANDING little guys, so great I replaced their dad with one and sent the other to a breeding program in Texas. We've got the Cream Legbar Club up and running now and things are really moving along!

I am sorry Coral,

I hope you find great homes for them. I wish I could have milk animals (goats or sheep) but living in town it just isn't possible now.

How's the training going for the "great walk"?

Thanks for the hugs, Kass. I'm going to walk two miles today. I've only logged 9 miles so far. Seems like it's raining when I have time and dry when I'm busy. This summer will be a chance to walk the full 480 miles. I'm not going to walk in the dark or in the rain: both concessions to safety and comfort while I'm still in the states. I won't walk in the dark in Spain, but I may have to walk in the rain. After chatting with some online folks who are training to walk this summer, I've been bolstered by their news that they have walked much farther during their training than expected. I've got the rebounder dusted off. Can I bring it to you this week? Mom's going to be here Monday, so some day after that we could drive down to make a delivery.

I'll check my and Gary's schedule, I'm sure we can come up w/ a time this week.

Bardies, hope to meet you at Newcastle tonight. I will be there with my girls. Sorry about the calf. Was the redwood you were looking at here in Cement? There was one listed Thursday night & they spelled it wrong. Shared it with a few local people & the add is gone now.

Guineaguy I have some that color & considered them pastel. Wish I had pics of when they hatched to compare them too. Guinea colors are so complicated, but we love all of them!

Taron saw your pics Kass & said what pretty flowers. Our redbuds are not blooming either, but my alergies are already out of control.

Coral I am certain you will find great homes for your girls, dairy goats are hard to come by. I love my rebounder too, much easier on the knees than excercising on hard ground.

Bambi looks like she will kid in the next few days, her milk is really filling in. Yesterday I could fill her baby kicking as I was checking out her belly. Hope she makes a good momma.
