***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I have 2 automatic feeders (commercially sold), but the seed does not come out freely, any suggestions? My fellow Okies have been so helpful. Have a good day and try to stay warm!

To dobeben1 and CruchyJeepMama.

Sure was cold out there breaking ice on all the water tubs. Good thing the chickens all have nice hay stuffed houses and feather jackets.
Boys are taking a cow to the vet this morning to get her stitches out of her eyelid. Poor girl, at ten years old, had cancer in her eye. Her calf is just three weeks old now.
Will go to town for layer feed today and pick up the hatch at Carl's.
Going to have to cover the cabbage and broccoli in the garden tonight. Will put wheat straw around them today when it warms up a little.

Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Hey! I know I've not been on in a while, been too busy with the new baby, but I just had to post my pic of chicks I got in today. I'll be back on here later begging you guys to help me figure out which are which because I've got to sort them out and give them to the lady I split the order with this afternoon!

Hope everyone is doing well! There's no way I have enough time right now to keep up the way this thread moves :)

Here is one of my Phoenix X NN. I am keeping all the ones that were born naked neck

Not quite sure what this little booger is yet.

THis one came from an olive egg

This one shows some attitude lol

ANother Olive egg hatcher. Had to help this one out of its shell.

ANother of my Phoenix/NN crosses.

If the feeders are those red and white plastic ones, check the wingnut bolts on the top and bottom. You can adjust those a little to open the space between the column and the tray.

Nana was thinking same thoughts as me on the feeder, empty the feed, adjust the opening then refill.
Oceans I was just thinking of you the other day. Hope the baby is well, and getting ready to crawl soon.
Triple S poultry sway should be great. I don't do facebook, but when Coral posted it I quickly mapped the location. Too far for us, but hope everyone else has a great time.
Gunmamma do you have any BCM? Think the ones we hatch look similar to your unknown chick.

Just ordered some call duck eggs. If I do well with them we may get rid of the mandarins, not sure yet. The mandis are pretty, but I prefer a calmer bird. Our guineas will even come to us for treats, but the mandis try to fly away anytime we are in viewing distance.
Bambi is showing signs of labor, or at least I think. She is not moving much & lots of discharge with small amounts of grunting. Trying to give her space & not stress her, but its hard. Imagine she will wait until the sun sets & temp drops below freezing tonight. Taron plans on recording the birth, could be interesting!

Is Bambi in the barn?
We have "mooved" a pregnant cow into a pen in the barn before. We used one of the red heat lamps hung above the height of the cow. With hay on the floor, it was enough to keep the calf a little warmer. Temps tonight are expected to be in the low 20s. Hope she has them early while it is warmer.
